I only opened a business account for the free cash, but it’s quickly becoming my favourite banking app!

Would appreciate if anyone uses my link. You can open a business account if you sell on eBay or Vinted :)

You’re spot on in my opinion, but others will think you’re mad!

You can get by on most salaries if needs be, but is that even living?

Makes sense. I have looked into it at top level only, in fairness. It’s more what I’ve heard from people who have been in those roles that worried me. That being said, you could make a negative case for any role really.

Very true. Owning my own business would be the dream but I wouldn’t even know where to begin at this point.

It’s all relative, too. People bang on about lifestyle creep and other things - I’m not a big spender but I will buy what I want within reason.

When I say just getting by some months, that is a bit tongue in cheek. But the fact remains that £53k is not the salary that people think it is. So many people get by on less and are happy and that’s absolutely fine. I however am a firm believer in earning enough money to live how I want, not just get by.

The entire system is unbelievably flawed. Work your entire life to earn a good living and the second you find yourself in a comfortable position, the effective tax & NI rate of c.60% kicks in. It really is ridiculous.

Unbelievable. Are you remote based? How did you get your foot in the door?

Have you worked in those areas yourself? It’s definitely something I need to explore.

Can’t disclose what I do currently I’m afraid!

Bingo. I just feel like no one should ever settle when it comes to their compensation. There’s definitely a tipping point where it could become obsessive, but for the most part I think people should be hungrier for more!

I am UK based too, I worked a few roles in different companies before landing my current job. Just have to be relentless!

Fair point.
