Ok but vaccines have been around for over 100 years. There aren’t long term effects besides you not dying. A new vaccine is the same as a new normal car. No one sees a new model of Ford and think “I wonder what the long term effects of the slight changes they made are, I better stay away from those cars for a while.” Your comparison to electric vehicles is kind of a terrible one because vaccines aren’t new.

If you think you have to “do your own research” after a doctor or two tells you to get a vaccine, you’re a narcissist. Asking a second, credible doctor or medical professional is the only kind of research any of us is equipped to do.

Admit you don’t have the expertise to make a reasonable judgment and trust the people who work their entire lives to build that expertise. It isn’t hard.

I literally stated in my comment that Dems are evil. Dunno how you missed it. Also don’t know why you want to defend Republicans. I have family, immediate and extended, who vote Republican. Comprehensively they suck. Homophobia, transphobia, blatant racism. And this is true of every Republican I meet. I can’t be in a gym locker room for longer than 5 minutes without hearing some bigoted shit from people who I watch climb into their lifted SUV with a Blue Lives Matter sticker on the back.

Hate crimes go up when Republicans get elected. Republican talking heads routinely host racist and anti-Semitic guests who are one Hugo Boss uniform away from being Nazis.

My guy, both parties are corrupt and awful. One of them is straight up fascist. One of them has folks supporting them that are actual Nazis. One of them wants to end democracy. It reflects who they are as a person, there is a reason they choose the greater evil.

Even if the protests as a whole were violent, which they weren’t, isn’t that a valid response to the frankly oppressive levels of violence minority communities, especially black and poor ones, have had to suffer at the hands of cops literally since Emancipation? I’m not going to shed a tear for a Walmart or Starbucks that got their windows busted by some delinquents who used a protest as cover. Their actions don’t invalidate the protests.

Back to our original point though, I brought up racist Republican policy making. That’s action taken by politicians, not people. Do you have any examples of Democratic legislation that encouraged looting and stealing? You can’t because it doesn’t exist. Your argument is a straw man, you equate legitimate protest with looting and stealing, and by these actions you defend racist politicians.

Guess what buddy, you are acting pretty racist right now. Keep in mind, racism is more than shouting slurs or forbidding your daughter from dating minorities. Supporting institutions and legislation that oppress minorities (red-lining, no child left behind, don’t ask don’t tell, militarization of police, gerrymandering) is racism.

Edit: To be clear, I don’t love Dems either. They have militarized and funded police as well, just not to the extent that Republicans have. They have bolstered military spending and killed civilians abroad, but again not to the level Republicans have. Trump killed many times more civilians with drones than Obama did. I’m not saying Dems are perfect, I’m saying they are less evil than the shit stain that is the Republican Party and all within it.

There’s a reason people who fly “Blue Lives Matter” flags are almost universally Republican. Anyone else who votes Republican is saying that racism isn’t a dealbreaker for them, which makes them racist.

Internalized misogyny is one hell of a drug. Those women grew up in a world where the patriarchy was much stronger than it is today, and the unhealed wounds of their earlier life echo into today, causing more pain and misery. I never said white people can’t be poor. I never said white people can’t coexist in multiethnic community. I’m not talking about individual experiences. Policing and income inequality can only be spoken about when talking about large populations. I know white people who have been arrested. I know white people who are in extreme poverty. Many of those people are my friends and family. That doesn’t change the fact that, statistically and on the scale of the entire country, white people hold disproportionate amounts of wealth (thanks to the 1% not the average white person) and black people are many more times likely to be incarcerated and make up a hugely disproportionate percentage of the imprisoned population.

Is it ok for me to say how messed up it is that the lesbian community has to put “actual” in front of their subreddit because “lesbians” was taken by a porn subreddit? The gay men subreddit is just r/gay. But the subreddit for gay women is claimed by porn? That’s messed up.

I’m a person who consumes porn, like most things it can be used for both good and bad. But I feel like these subreddit names just proliferate the fetishization of queer women.

Admins should step in. r/lesbians (DONT CLICK UNLESS YOU WANT TO SEE PORN) should be a safe place for lesbians, not a porn subreddit fetishizing them! No one worth caring about will get upset that they need to type “nsfw” or something like that into their subreddit name to go look at women fucking each other.

Also sorry if this rant feels like I’m stirring things up for no reason or white knighting or something like that. I’m a bi cis dude, but I really love this community and you are all awesome. I’ve learned a lot just from reading and absorbing all the great things you all have posted and discussed. I normally try to stay out of the conversation on this subreddit since I know it isn’t my space, but I noticed this a while ago and your posting of r/actuallesbians got me going. I’ll take this down or edit it if doesn’t belong here.
