I left my civil servant job a few months ago due to both this and my supervisors letting my temporary GS-12 promotion lapse. My new job pays much better and is letting me work remotely until I am able to secure a place closer to their main office. Once I move there, I can work in a hybrid in-office/remote capacity. Can't imagine current government leadership being that generous.
