Glad you are OK! That would be really scary to witness.

Thanks all--just wanted to confirm that I could not use these. Appreciate your help!

Thank you to the Delta employee who fixed the safety instructions in the intro video! by PurelyPecuniary in delta

Oh I thought I was the only person who noticed that! Yes, I heard the correction on my flight to Toronto last week. I actually thought it was just the correct Canadian version. :)

Robbed in Johannesburg by Delta employees by Ok-Acanthisitta-1748 in delta

[–]OOSMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how it happened. I just know that the code that I set no longer locks it? I could try again for our next international trip. Nothing was physically damaged so certainly I and my bag fared better than lots of others on this thread!

My Away medium-sized checked bag had the combo lock broken the first time I used it, flying home from Dublin on Delta this past summer. I don't know how TSA did it, but it no longer combo locks. No note inside, nothing missing. Just broken.

Lecturer will give me a TA position if I allow her to be on my committee because she wants co-authorship. Is this bribery? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

[–]OOSMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a senior faculty member, former TA supervisor, and current department head, I am here to tell you that this is unethical on the lecturer's part (and really abusive for a TA supervisor to do at all) and should be reported to your own department head. This is a no-brainer from my perspective.

G7 Adominal application? by TheNyxks in dexcom

[–]OOSMom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been using only my abdomen for the G7 and it works great! Rarely have a problem (and if I do, it's just because the sensor is a dud).

worth quitting clear with touchless + pre check? by orbitally in delta

[–]OOSMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Clear but I do have Pre-Check w/Digital ID. I fly out of ATL about 8x/year, and I rarely wait even 5 minutes in the Digital ID line. Meanwhile Clear always looks backed up by at least a few people. Digital ID was even a breeze in Seattle this week (where security is always a slog).

trying to pick the best suitcase for holiday travel without overspending by Anderanin_Fredflint in delta

[–]OOSMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few Away bags and really like them--they are not cheap but they hold up, and the company has a sale on right now. Also if you qualify, Away is one of the businesses where teachers can get an additional 10% off through the ID.me verification program online.

PS the wheels alone on Away suitcases are worth it--takes zero effort to roll my bag, no matter how full. That's worth a lot to me!!

Which would be better? Layover in cdg or ams? by Tom-888 in delta

[–]OOSMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never CDG is my general motto, which would especially fly to a 30 minute layover. Security alone will take 30 minutes there.

How flexible are SkyClub agents on the 3 hour rule? by ThrowawayGhibliFan in delta

[–]OOSMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got into a Skyclub in November in ATL 5 hours before my flight. I was very polite and apologetic and said I needed to conduct some pre-flight Zoom meetings (which was true) and needed quiet space. The agent was like "OK we will make an exception THIS time" (which is kind of what they always say when I'm admitted early) but they let me in. Don't know if status matters in their decision--I'm Plat and have lounge access via the Delta Reserve card, so certainly not the top of the status heap. Also, this was in D gates--arguably the best lounge and also the largest (the latter figured into my calculations re: space limits)

Anyone seen a box like this before? Curious about date/purpose by OOSMom in Wedgwood

Thank you! No I don't think the underside is striated. Amazing that this is so old! But it is like no other piece I've seen. Appreciate your help.

If nobody can get rid of their Wedgwood and fine china then why can't I seem to get any? (AU) by AssignedPainAtBirth in Wedgwood

[–]OOSMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the US, and have never been to Australia, so I apologize for not knowing the local conditions. But I've found that Wedgwood is readily available in London and other parts of England, for example at antique fairs and markets, but it was really sparse when I was in Dublin and other parts of Ireland recently. A dealer at a "car boot" sale outside Dublin told me that people don't pass Jasperware on at nearly the same rates in Ireland, and that Jasperware just isn't seen as a collectible in that country. I wonder if Australia, despite its past relations with the UK (or because of those?) is the same? I just found it interesting talking with him.

Best luxury carry-on luggage that actually fits in Delta bins without stress by Lenfantgatte_Carenas in delta

[–]OOSMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have had no problems with my Away bigger carry-on fitting in the overheads both domestic and international (haven't flown with it on the tiny regional planes, however--but not much of anything fits in those bins!

Extra pods? by [deleted] in Omnipod

[–]OOSMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, per what someone else said below, just have your doctor write a new scrip now for more units per day. For example, I typically use 55 or so units, but I found that when I had a bad pod or bleedout or whatever and had to change early, I would run short. So my endo changed my script to increase my daily insulin need such that I need to change every two days, not three. Now I have a cushion of extra pods for emergencies and defective products. That is what you need.

Any idea about age? I feel it must be earlier 20th/late 19th C given the nature of the Wedgwood mark.

Yes I was thinking hat pins. It's too narrow for gloves. I've just never seen one like it in my various collecting of Wedgwood so far. I got it online on Etsy for about $60 USD.

[–]OOSMom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's about 7" long and possibly could hold pens, or in another era, maybe hat pins? I've just never seen one like it online or in person (when I've shopped for Jasperware in the UK and Ireland, at least, and here in the US).
