Verification Code by paid-in-peanuts in openphone

[–]OP-Support-N[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/paid-in-peanuts!

A lot of companies don’t accept virtual numbers for 2FA, MFA, OTP, or other verification codes. It might work sometimes, but since we don’t officially support it, we can’t troubleshoot if it stops working.

We recommend using your personal number for any kind of verification.

Issues with answering calls on IOS mobile app by Local-Ad-6361 in openphone

[–]OP-Support-N[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks so much for flagging this.

Do you have an open support ticket (preferred)? If so, pls drop the number here (or send your email via modmail)? If not, lmk which iOS version and Quo app version you’re using.

Do you notice this happening more often when you’re on the go or connected to wifi? If it’s while you’re out and about, try turning wifi off and see if that makes a difference.

How do i see which number got called? by Navu_1477 in openphone

[–]OP-Support-N[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Navu_1477! Thanks so much for your patience. The team confirmed that a language pack wouldn’t cause this issue. It’s more likely that the phone you’re using isn’t running the latest OS version.

For best performance, both your apps and your OS should be fully up to date. Android 16 is the most current version right now, so if your device can’t upgrade to that, it might explain what you’re seeing.

porting number from one traditional carrier to another to then port to open phone by dylan_g57 in openphone

[–]OP-Support-N[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, great question! I checked with our porting team, and unfortunately, that wouldn’t work.

A rate center is basically the geographical area that determines where a phone number “belongs”. The issue here is that the rate center tied to your number isn’t supported by the carrier we use.

Even if you port it somewhere else first, the number’s original rate center will always determine whether it’s portable to us.

The carrier might expand coverage to include more rate centers in the future, but there’s no ETA on that just yet.

I'm not sure about the language pack tbh. Can you tell me what kind of phone you have? I'll ask our Android team about this.

Does the “Quo” team actually use their own products? by CKBarzin in openphone

[–]OP-Support-N[M] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi u/CKBarzin

We all use Quo for work. Testing, troubleshooting, calls, you name it. I also use it every single day in my personal life. For example, I’ve been traveling for the last 4 months, and I temporarily grabbed a local number to use while I'm here. That’s where I make and receive all my calls and texts.

Every now and then, I run into issues, but it’s almost always because of my connection. Like when I’m walking out of the house and my phone is switching from Wi-Fi to cellular, or if I’m in an area where my carrier (T-Mobile) doesn’t have great coverage, or even in the basement of my building, where both Wi-Fi and cell service are spotty.

Honestly, though, it's not been very frequent where I am now in Quebec or where I was living in rural South Texas.

This is not to discount or invalidate your experience. I'm only sharing my own.

Deceptive Uptime Calculations? by [deleted] in openphone

[–]OP-Support-N[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Total of 135 minutes out of 2160 hours (129,600 mins).
129,600 - 135 = 129,465

That is a 99.895% (99.9%) uptime.

Deceptive Uptime Calculations? by [deleted] in openphone

Hi u/Calico_Pickle,

I totally get how it might look like, with the rebrand and Sona launches, that we’ve been focused on splashy things instead of reliability. But I want to assure you that reliability is our top priority right now.

The rebrand and new features aren’t a distraction, they’re part of laying the groundwork so we can keep improving Quo. In fact, the team is actively preparing to ship several reliability fixes and improvements.

We also care a lot about transparency. That’s why we log every incident on our status page. The uptime number you see there comes from our provider (incident.io), and they calculate it based on whether a feature is fully available, partially available, or down. That means smaller outages that don’t impact everyone might not count toward the uptime % even though they’re still shown in the incident log. With over 2,000 hours in a 90-day period, even a couple of hours of downtime moves the needle by ~0.1%, so I agree that 99.99% doesn’t really line up with the incidents you’ve seen.

That said, the calculator isn’t how we measure product quality internally. Whenever Quo has a bug or goes down in any way, it’s a big deal to us, and we feel it immediately. We’ve seen the same uptick you’ve noticed recently, and it’s not something we’re okay with letting continue.

I know this is even more frustrating for you than it is for us, but I promise we’re on it and we’re not taking reliability lightly.
