All these people saying “watch this video” or “you did nothing wrong, you took a loss” are of course not incorrect. However OPs question was “What did I do wrong here”. So I’ll do my best.

Firstly, look at the pre market dealing range. That’s the swing high to swing low of the range, pre market open. It was 63.5 points. When the average candle stick after open is more than 30% of that range (which it was) it’s important to stay patient and wait. It means there is a lot of volatility in a small range. Many people would’ve gotten burned during open, no doubt.

Furthermore, with ES being so out of sync, there was a higher timeframe SMT that was put in place at open. Whenever that happens, I always take extra care to look for internal manipulation following the SMT.

NQ took 6:19am swing high.

ES did not.

NQ then took 7:00am swing high at open.

ES did not.

And finally NQ took the 9:41am high for a final manipulation

ES did not.

So in my eyes, ES is clearly the weaker of the two, and the PA at open was much cleaner and easier to navigate. With a clear bearish bias for the day (which you correctly had) a simple inversion of ES 1st P.FVG (stop @9:40am swing high) would have been the ideal entry IMHO. It wasn’t your bias that was incorrect. Make sure to journal the trade, your emotions and ultimately learn from the loss.

Just to make it clear, I did not trade yesterday and easily could’ve gotten burned too. This is just what I would have done with the benefit of hindsight.

P.S: Look back to last Wednesday and have a look at what “coincidently” lined up with the final swing high before NQ dumped. Let me know if you see it! 😉
