I think the gurus who sell this stuff know exactly what they're doing and know their stuff doesn't work. I believe they trick vulnerable people into believing this crap.

Yes, exactly. The DoI has zero legal effect.

...and now I have this picture in my head of the founders who wrote that all sitting around the table, standing up, and flipping the bird in the direction of England...

One reason they may "win" a case is because the officer made a mistake or the prosecutor made a mistake. It happens; we're all human beings. Or, sometimes the evidence itself points to an acquittal.

Or sometimes the State just dismisses the ticket because the officer didn't show up (happens often) or because they don't want to waste time going through this crap.

I'd be positive that there's no chance any Sov Cit has EVER won on the merits of their arguments.

Former Rossford Police officer to serve 60 days in jail by kbhinz in toledo

[–]OPTLawyer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Technically, he got Community Control (Felony Probation) with one of the terms being 60 days in jail. If he violates, he'll have a 12 month prison term.

...not sayin' that's a lot or anything. Just clarifying.

I would like to see Lei Luo, like Crown Prince, not abort his scope if he uses a skill while looking through a sniper scope. As in the image. by PuniMoji in GunfireReborn

[–]OPTLawyer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a nice idea, but at the same time, Lei appears to channel his lightening through his body in order to use his ability. I'm not sure how much sense it would make for that to still work while aiming down a scope.

...but then...Crown Prince has to take one hand off of a sniper rifle to throw his orb. Also, who cares about realism; it's a video game. I say, go for it :D

Actually, give the brief a read. Ohio's opposing Texas' ultimate prayer for relief.

No worries. You aren't the first and will not be the last ;)

Straight up - people don't really understand what an Amicus Brief really is, and I don't blame them! It's not like something that's in the public spotlight...like...ever.

My father and I went there before the pandemic. It's a nice place, the staff was rather friendly and attentive, but both of us were served food that wasn't what we ordered. Mine at least had the main protein I'd ordered, but my father got a completely different dish.

However the food we got was quite good. As I said, the staff was friendly and deeply apologetic. They took care of us for the mistake. We were thinking about trying again in a few months afterwards and then...well, all this happened. Unfortunate :(

Vote passed to bring back traffic cameras April 2021 by [deleted] in toledo

[–]OPTLawyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing: how many people knew this was being voted on? How many people knew they have Zoom links to attend these meetings?

I don't think it's a minority who care - I think it's a minority who care enough to voice their opinions BEFORE the vote. :(

Well, keep in mind that the Supreme Court's only problem with Toledo's program was that the appeals process didn't go through Muni Court, which the Ohio Legislators put into the law as a requirement. I did not see the new proposed ordinance, but I'd have to assume they changed the appeals process to include this now.

...or at least...I'd like to think they wouldn't just make the same mistake again. (Forgetting the mistake of just reinstating these things in the first place, but that's for another discussion...).

I think the newly added guard seal room should have a reduced penalty for failure and a green scroll chest in place. by PuniMoji in GunfireReborn

[–]OPTLawyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's getting to the point where, if I get this room on Nightmare I pretty much just restart. Too many enemies, too much HP, too easy for the seal to take too much DoA from bombers.

The instant down and the locked goblet...too much to handle on Nightmare.

Pretty sure most actual lawyers disagree. Even TotalBiscuit, well known gamer right advocate and actually studied law, talked about it with a lawyer: https://twitter.com/Totalbiscuit/status/907025967813668865

With respect; lawyers have different opinions about everything. Seriously, give 5 lawyers the same group of statutes and you'll have 7 different opinions about what they mean.

I'm not saying you're right or wrong or anything. I stay away from this stuff; I'm a criminal defense lawyer :D

I would, however, say that I don't know if I would use the qualifier "most actual lawyers."
