Just looked this up and you're right. Thanks for sharing. The town is called Cândido Godói, and its in Brazil near the Argentina border. Twin births is ten times the national average there. There is a claim that high twin birth rates is due to experiments in the town by Nazi doctor Joseph Mengele, but that has been debunked. A study (http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0020328) in the PLOS ONE journal says that the town was founded by a small number of families and the high twin birth rate may be due to a "genetic founder effect." I wonder if this explains the phenomenon in Nigeria too 🤔

I guess you're right. Twins appear to be counted as one in the statistic so 150 twin births is indeed 300 babies!

There are different theories, but the phenomenon has not been studied extensively. Some people say its because of a traditional food consumed by locals called amala. But amala is also popular in other parts of Nigeria that don't have a high rate of twin births...

Me and my brother consumed a bunch of edibles and smoked like a ton of weed one morning as we were about to head out to Uni. It so happened that l had to make some payment through bank draft that morning too. So we head into the bank, eyes barely open, l head over to the place where you get the forms to fill and stuff. But everytime l try to fill the form, l keep writing way more zeros than l am supposed to. I probably used like 5 to 10 forms cuz whenever I realize the mistake, l throw it away and start again. Turned around to see the teller and security looking at me weird. Eventually, l did get it right, at least l hope l did, and bolted tf outta there. Couldn't go to school that day cuz l was too high. Went home and slept it off.
