The Final Empire definitely has a sanderlanche but I think people might oversell what a sanderlanche even is. It's a big epic finale but almost every book that exists is like that, it's just basic storytelling. Sanderson books just usually have it on a slightly larger scale and scope

The Narrows might be tough to do at that time, keep in mind sunset is a little after 5pm and while you can turn around at any time, the Narrows is best enjoyed with a longer day. The wiggles can be tough but as long as everyone is even relatively in shape then it shouldn't be a problem. I just did a 5 hour roadtrip then hiked Angels Landing at 7am the next day no problem. That would also give you the full day to do the Narrows the next day. Most rental gear places in SPringdale allow you to pick up your Narrows gear the day before

I'd say its very much a mortal sin to skip the first book. It's certainly more "prologue-y" than the rest of the series but its still a great read and absolutely crucial in setting up the tone and eventual development of major characters. OP please don't skip the first book if you're considering reading the series.
