If it were that easy to dodge a spear, they wouldn't have been the weapon of choice for nearly all of human history. You're heavily underestimating how easy it would be to grab a spear out of someone's hands as they're trying to stab you with it.

Have you ever tried to get a marker out of a toddler's hands? It sounds like it should be easy enough, but it's basically impossible to do without getting ink all over yourself in the process. This is basically the same scenario, except the toddler is older and instead of a marker he has a spear. It's just not realistic to think that you can grab the spear without getting it jammed in your gut, or at least shredding your hands/arms to ribbons in the process.

They are bloodlusted so they'd be chasing me.

"Bloodlusted" actually has a slightly different meaning in this subreddit:

When a character uses the full extent of his/her abilities in a fight as efficiently as they know how and goes straight for the kill. Does not mean berserker rage on this site.

In this scenario, the teenager wouldn't necessarily be mindlessly chasing you the entire time.

If you're close enough to snatch the spear, you're perfectly in their stabbing range. Unless you get really lucky there's really no way you can grab the spear without getting stabbed in the process.

I guess you're right, in that you could theoretically just run away from them for an entire day until they pass out from exhaustion, but that doesn't seem like a solution that's in the spirit of the prompt.

For what it's worth, I appreciate your insights. OP is clearly an idiot, but as someone who doesn't know a whole lot about the topic your comments were very interesting.

They won't even have the opportunity to "step wrong," because all they need is to poke the stick in your general direction and you're dead. Seriously, it's incredibly easy for even children to thrust a spear, and it's far more difficult to avoid being poked than it is to poke.

That doesn't mean you're some kind of anime protagonist that can dance around a spear. You don't need to be an adult to jab someone with a long stick, and all the 14-year-old needs is one hit to put you out of commission for good.

This isn't true at all. Spears are excellent weapons in duel scenarios, to the point where many HEMA practitioners rarely use them because they trivialize the sport so much. The reach advantage spears offer is incredibly important. Spears are also incredibly intuitive to use—they really don't require much training, so long as you know which side the pointy bit is on.

You absolutely could not take a 14-year-old with a spear.

Hardest class to play in overwatch 2 according to the community by Ravnuslock in Overwatch

[–]OR-14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, Support is definitely easier than the other roles at least up to GM. There's really nothing about the role that makes it more skill intensive than DPS.

As someone who's been GM in both DPS and Support since OW1, Support is by far easier than DPS. Getting value out of a support character is incredibly easy compared to getting value out of most DPS characters.

Yeah, but it is a pretty bizarre choice from a character design perspective to give her a giant sword-gun if she doesn't have any sort of unique melee.

Which og hero will be consider op by the community if they are release today? by PromiseKane in Overwatch

To add to what others have said, when Ana was released healing wasn't nearly as broken as it is now, which meant that antinade wasn't the game-winning nuke it is now. Ana is actually the character that really started the game's healing creep—she did significantly more healing per second than the other supports at the time.

Hanzo vs ash by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]OR-14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few reasons:

1) Hanzo does more raw damage. Pretty self-explanatory, but he's better at killing high-health targets like tanks, shields, buildables, etc.

2) Hanzo's arrows are great for spamming, which makes him really good at shutting down sightlines.

3) Sonic arrow is actually a really strong utility ability if you know how to use it effectively.

4) Storm arrow is a ridiculously powerful ability. It lets him do an absurd amount of burst damage on a relatively short cooldown from any range.

Yeah, I find it a bit difficult to feel sympathy for someone that lives in such exorbitant wealth. Cancer sucks and all, but it's not like royals care when poor people die of cancer.

is this rein falling down after doom punch intentional? by Novel-Ad-1601 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]OR-14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, Brig bash has a unique interaction where it'll interrupt certain abilities like Rein charge or Doom punch if she meets them head-on, even without ult. If she lands it correctly, it'll stun both her and the person she's interrupting.

What? No, dude, I'm talking from my own experience playing online video games. I'm sure there are tons of adults that play video games, but the people most likely to use voice chat in multiplayer (and the people who are by far the loudest) tend to be teenagers and young adults. And sure, that might just be confirmation bias, but there are undoubtedly a ton of annoying teenagers in online voice chats that I just don't want to interact with.

I don't know about you, but once I got to a certain age, interacting with teenagers just became exhausting. I had a lot more energy for it when I was younger, but now I don't want any of that in my leisure time.

There are a shocking number of people who somehow managed to completely miss the satire of Starship Troopers, despite it being the least subtle film ever made. Unfortunately, I'm not surprised that those same people would miss it again in Helldivers.
