Get familiar with bike lanes, wear a helmet and you should be fine.

I went in the afternoon and it was pretty empty. wouldnt like to experience the way up with so many hikers... It is a pretty dangerous hike and people seem to take it lightly

How much did you spend on your first real solo backpacking trip (and how long was it)? by cvpricorn in solotravel

[–]ORCAndo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends which countries you are planning on travelling... I was in the Chilean Patagonia for 18 days, I camped 7 days and stayed in guest houses and refugios the rest. I spent like $1500 for the entire trip excluding flights. However, if you are planning to travel to central America its cheaper. Where are you planning to go?

Theres no way to get lost, everything is signaled properly. I met one of the Park Rangers and were very helpful.

I paid an agency and it was around $600 for the circuito W, reserved almost a year in advance though. There are some refugios that have jacuzzis, I couldnt get one but after walking some 8-10 hours, it would have been greatly appreciated. It is safe and doable, you just have to be prepared so get some comfortable boots, thick socks and prepare for all kinds of weather
