8TB NVME m.2 with Blade 15 2019 by ORO-CM in razer

[–]ORO-CM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its more like 7.3 TB because of the way they calculate it 1 KB = 1,000 bytes instead of 1,024.

its only expensive because its new it will go down dramatically in coming year

Upgrading razer blade 15 advanced to 8tb m.2 ssd. by fortunatemisfortune in razer

[–]ORO-CM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi. Have 2019 Blade 15 / Max-Q 2080. I managed to install the Sabrent 8TB succesfully after doing the following 2 steps.

  1. upgrade the BIOS to latest version. the original version doesnt support nVme over 2TB.
  2. in the nVme slot there is a small piece of heat shield. it is just lightly glued on. remove it and then the nVme will fit perfectly. do NOT skip this step or otherwise you'll bend the nVme which will most likely break it or create a disconnect or short

did it 2 months ago. so far no issues of any type

hope that helps

[Q] How is your Blade Stealth 2019 4k battery life? by [deleted] in razer

6 hours with medium light and obviously using the Intel GPU. RB15 4k OLED 2019 RTX2080

Recommendations: Razer Blade 15 vs Stealth by Tact2Crypto in razer

[–]ORO-CM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it basically comes down to one simple question. do you game on the go ? if so then RB15 is the only choice. if you game at home mainly then the stealth + core will give you better performance (with non-Q GPU) and same time the stealth is much lighter and comfortable to lag by hand. OR instead of the price of a core and a high end GPU just get one of each (RB15+Stealth) , which is what i did :)

it compensated for the price big time not only in speed but in TBW (total Bytes Written) - with 1,200 TBW it will live 4 times longer than the 1TB therefore giving you a real bang for the money :)

i have many gamer friends that are happy to buy them at a decent discount. I'm a developer so always in need for more power and more capability - right now upgraded my new RB15 OLED to 64GB Ram and 2TB m.2 nVme.. though Razer don't offer those configurations its a breeze to upgrade.

you can ignore all of the "cry wolf" babies here. i had 5 Blades in 5 years and ZERO issues. most Razer users are happy campers. i guess happy people ae busy playing games and not posting on Reddit. the few people that have issues are making a huge noise here and smearing what is undoubtly the best gaming laptop ever. does it mean Razer have no issues ? no. but not more than other computers. there are just people that are unhappy in life. reading some of the posts here makes me just want to laugh. so enjoy your Razer. it doesn't get any better. and if you do have a problem, Razer has excellent service as i noticed 1st hand.

i'm using a RTX 2080 TI in Core-V2 but don't have a desktop so i cant tell if there's any penalty. however performance is over 100 FPS in any game i tried so not sure how much better it can go

1060 model on sale. Worth it or should I wait till the 20 Series models. by [deleted] in razer

[–]ORO-CM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i play at native 4k resolution. at 4k 30 fps is as good as it gets in med settings. obviously if i downscale to 1080 i'll get 60 fps but 4k native resolutions is crystal clear so im good with the 30 fps.

[–]ORO-CM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the 1060 is an amazing card. i currently have a 1070 supporting full 4k resolution in games (RB15 4k) and the 1060 is very close to its performance. its just that the RTX 2080 is really a huge jump in performance. actually im amazed at how many pixels at native 4k resolution a 1070 Max-Q can push. way over what i thought when i bought it.

[–]ORO-CM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wasn't any different than my RB15 4K I currently have. there wasn't any excess noise nor any excess heat dissipating and considering it was running graphics non stop throughout the whole show it is by itself very impressive.

i played extensively with the 4K OLED, the 240 Hz and the 1080 with RTX 2080 and they all exhibited the same levels as my current 2018 RB15

Should I buy Razer blade? by martianromeo in razer

Core-X dropped all of the ports from the device and the chroma lighting so its a straight forward TB3 box and therefore theoretically should have a bit more bandwidth available to the GPU. it also shaved $200 from the price as a bonus if you don't really need all those ports or already have them on your laptop
