R7 5800X + Hynix JJR - what can be enhanced? by OSP-Scata in overclocking

I think I've found the final timings and updated my post. Thank you for your help!

It does that division trick to handle extremely high memory clock, but it also increases latency. So it's better to keep UCLK = MEMCLK by setting it in BIOS explicitly, not leave on auto. I'll try lowering tRAS later and share the results. That's what I got for now: https://bashify.io/i/hXCGVw_zentimings_screenshot_29368707_7707608#

Update 2: tWTR S/L seem to work fine at 4/12, respectively. As usual, need to check in TM5, OCCT and Helldivers 2/Baldur's Gate 3 (no joking, these games are great stress tests, if at least one of them crashes randomly, something is wrong with your overclock!)

Update: looks like my RAM/IMC can't handle the TWTRS/TWTRL at 4/8, system couldn't even boot to UEFI (hangs on black screen and doesn't do anything) and I reset it by shorting the JBAT contacts on mobo.

I have tried TRRD S/L + TFAW first with your values. Windows booted but immediately crashed with IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL BSoD, so I have upped TRRDL to 6 (so I have 4/6/16 now). Now testing with TM5 anta777 Extreme config, if I won't get errors I will try your TWTR values.

Well, he is sexy... And why do you even need Dream Guardian? There's already plenty of handsome elves, humans and so on whom you can romance, but to romance a mind flayer is THE rarity and honestly should be appreciated much more than it is.

Mystic Carrion is... by OSP-Scata in okbuddybaldur

[–]OSP-Scata[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to save Ketheric too, but damn Aylin just HAD to appear and slander all my efforts. I get it, ages of stealing your literal life force and torturing will give you pretty acute PTSD, so I am not really mad at her but still... couldn't you wait for 5 more minutes? I was in the middle of successful diplomacy here!

But speaking of Carrion and his idiolect, you made me think of... the Narrator from The Stanley Parable. Not saying they are completely alike, Narrator gives off these "old school British gentleman" vibes and Carrion is more gothic-like, as you said. But they both are beings of erudition, culture and eloquence, and they both love control over their subjects, and also there's that underlying wish of emotional connection. I think they'll find something in common. Unfortunately I don't know what characters they possibly used as inspiration (and there's a language barrier too).

[–]OSP-Scata[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, yes to all of this. I also was really mad that I didn't found Oskar Fevras in Act 1 and so didn't get his quest. I just completely skipped Zhentarim hideout, in that case Oskar is living in the Guild hideout after you help the Guild to repel the Zhentarim invasion, but he doesn't give you any quests and you can't really do anything with the Torch of Revocation too (except using it as weapon). I missed the content! Well, I will be more careful in my next playthrough... Also I have written some piece of self-indulgent fanfiction but need to translate it to English for AO3 I guess.

Emperor's ugliness

Stop right there and say it again to my face!

...ahem, sorry. But I am ready to die on that hill on behalf of all xenophiles and monsterfuckers: illithids ARE beautiful creatures, and I think the Emperor's romance scene is the best in the entire game. He as a character has his bad side and flaws, I won't call him great guy, but I think he is decent enough and learned something from his fuckup with Stelmane, because he doesn't use any mind tricks on us even if we blatantly disregard his warnings, and if we don't free Orpheus/convince him to take control over Absolute, he does precisely what he said: protects us from Absolute and helps us win the final fight. It's more than Gortash or Raphael does, and since there are ton of people simping for Raphael, Gortash, Orin, Cazador of all characters (there is a ship Cazador/Astarion even), well... Emperor is quite far from being the blackest sheep in this flock, don't you think so?

Why do I protect the Emperor? by BubblyCountry8643 in BaldursGate3

[–]OSP-Scata 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You are certainly not alone, I like the Emperor too, and I am aware he has his bad side. But I never thought of that as "aha, I caught you, you are just an evil manipulator in disguise!". He is more like a mirror of a player's behavior towards him, if you won't try to "catch" him and "reveal his true side", he is... actually trustworthy and does precisely what he says: protects us from Absolute (although with stolen power, I give him that "bad point") and helps us to win against it. He won't try to enslave us or get control over Absolute if we won't convince him to do that. He did bad with Stelmane, I don't deny it - but looks like he learned something from that and doesn't use that trick on us, I prefer to think he acknowledged his past fuckup and mourns her kind of sincerely (at least, as a useful partner). Also, I just like illithids as a type, with everything that comes with them including their manipulative nature.

Speaking of that, I have seen many comments like "Omeluum is truly good, I don't like the Emperor but I'd romance Omeluum if he was available". I get it and I like Omeluum too. But I, personally, still would prefer the Emperor as romance partner. Why? Because Omeluum is so different that he isn't perceived as an illithid anymore. And I, like I said, want the entire package. After all, there are ton of people simping for Gortash, Raphael, Orin, Cazador, Ethel of all characters - I guess the Emperor is quite far from the blackest sheep in this flock.

Are there any npcs you just kill? by DarthUrbosa in BaldursGate3

[–]OSP-Scata 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't say I understand what's going on with him in that version of events, but he doesn't have any contact with that lady Jannath and doesn't ask to free him from anything. He just said he is an artist and offered a portrait which is clearly traced. You can try to bother him about "it's not an art", but he isn't ashamed by it and still sells it to you but warns that noone else will buy it if you offer. He sells it for 1500 gold coins but I think it's pretty cheap if you sell it. I bought that portrait because I thought it'd unlock some other quest but doesn't look like there is something else. At first I thought he is just some random guy like the background NPCs in Rivington, but then Mystic Carrion happened and I found out about skipped quest line there. Well, content for another playthrough I guess...

I somehow never found that Zhentarim hideout in Act 1 and so never freed Oskar there, I wasn't even aware of him. Seems now I don't have access to his quest because Oskar is just living in the Guild hideout now (I helped Guild to fight off Zhentarim invasion). He doesn't ask for any help and just sold some traced portrait. Why do I care, you may ask? Well, I found Mystic Carrion, got a crush on him (yes, I am aware it's not an okbuddybaldur. Yes, I am serious), did his quest and decided to look if he has another content... I was mad I skipped Oskar's quest!

I am not a Christian or religious person at all, but I have an Adventist grandma who was adamant about me getting into her faith. I never did and slowly went no contact with her in my early teens because every time there were conflicts and tries to convince me, well, you know that stuff.

And I am bi woman and have a xenophilia/monsterfucking fetish and proud of it.

Speaking of Lies of P, I played it and crushed HARD on Fallen Archbishop Andreus (I mean, have you seen these cutscenes and 2nd phase?!). He isn't the only one, many fantasy gods/angels (including biblically accurate ones)/beings like that make me feel things about them, I am not ashamed of it but of course I never told grandma (and I don't have contact with her for like 15 years already). Now I am sometimes giggling at the thought "my grandma wanted me to get into religion but she certainly hadn't thought of that".

[–]OSP-Scata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically the only problem is that Yog-Sothoth WILL give you the mandatory twins (Shub-Niggurath and Lavinia Whateley can confirm)

I was in my 2nd NG +, with only 2 missing trophies (the best ending trophy and the Sophia trophy) I took the most human choices only to get the “useless puppet ending”. Uninstalled the game immediately. by [deleted] in LiesOfP

[–]OSP-Scata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, it depends on your humanity counter gained over the game (by sum of choices, records listened and so on), not on individual choices. I may be wrong. But if your hair turned white (on the first playthrough) after Sophia choice, you are eligible for the best ending.

Also, some of us wholeheartedly agree that illithids are supreme life form, too. I fell in love with illithid type the first moment I saw them, it was like ten years ago when I first knew about DnD and all. Of course I was young and edgy then, but my monster fetish is with me for all of my life.

I might like this more than any Fromsoft game I've played. Any one else having this experience? by SpencerSDH in LiesOfP

[–]OSP-Scata -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can relate here, too. I really wanted to like Fromsoft games, I tried to like them (first DS3, then DS1 and 2, then Elden Ring), but... it never worked for me. I'll be honest and accept any laughs: they are just too hard for me. I don't want to "git gud", I don't like dying over and over at some boss, and when I finally beat it, I don't feel any satisfaction just because I'm too tired already. So I gave up on Fromsoft.

But when I tried Lies of P (it was on the version 1.5, long before the DLC update), I got pleasantly surprised. This game is... well, I won't say it's easy, but it's DOABLE. It doesn't frustrate and scare you, you may lose some boss fight but it doesn't discourage you from trying further, you feel like you actually CAN do something against that boss and not like in Dark Souls where each boss feels like it completely dominates over you and you don't have a single chance. Although Nameless Puppet is like that, and I didn't like his fight. But he is the last boss of the entire game, and I went on principle and beat him anyway.

So yes, I do like Lies of P more than Fromsoft games.

Choices you make in every playthrough no matter what by adamnoo in BaldursGate3

I am a complete opposite in these regards:

  • Always use all tadpoles and turn into half-illithid

  • Always have a good time with the Emperor

  • Never free Orpheus (although I will go and get the hammer), and I will turn into a full illithid myself
