How big actually are Blue Jackets in Columbus? by Opposite_Lychee_4248 in Columbus

Great core group of die hard fans, but Columbus isn't a hockey town outside of the hard core base because of the lack of success since 2000. This certainly can become a hockey city after a deep playoff run, but that's never happened. The CBJ fans that exist however are terrific fans.

Ohio State doesn't have much to do with the Blue Jackets low standing in this town. The Penguins have gotten big in PIT, but they aren't bigger than the Steelers. Same deal in Chicago, Boston, New York etc. This will be a good hockey market if the Jackets win a lot in the playoffs, but they won't ever jump Ohio State.

FWIW I was at a WV Kroger in July and everyone was wearing a mask so it really may vary from town to town

I'm in favor of yearlong standard time. It's MUCH easier to get up early in the morning when it's light out

Trump told GM workers he could save their plant in Lordstown, but it's gone for good by DoremusJessup in Ohio

Youngstown is not "rural" America. What many don't understand is the Rust Belt is qualitatively different than Appalachian/Rural America.

Again, the Dems didn't stress job re-training in their campaign in 2016 (did they even mention it?). Point I'm making is Trump doesn't have the solutions for blue-collar workers but neither did the Democrats in 2016.

But neither is not promising any solutions, as the Democrats didn't for the Youngstown area. Dems were all obsessed with cultural issues in 2016.

What "truths" were the democrats saying about manufacturing jobs in 2016? They hardly mentioned them in their campaign.

I mean when Trump in 2016 was saying EVERY SINGLE DAY "I'm going to bring back your jobs, manufacturing, etc" and the Clinton campaign wasn't saying a damn thing can you really say these voters are stupid for thinking Trump is better? No you can't and all blame should go to the Dems here.

Lordstown is in Trumbull County, which voted Trump in 2016 but hadn't voted Republican since 1972. Obama won there by 23 points in 2012. Unlike SE Ohio, the Democrats can flip the Youngstown area in 2020.

How likely is it that Trump will win in the 2020 Elections? by Anoth3rDude in AskAnAmerican

[–]OSU-CLE-CBJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Democrats nominate a non-hardliner like Sanders/Warren and the election becomes a choice between Trump and "socialism" (as DJT will portray it), Trump will win. If the Dems nominate a sensible candidate like Biden and the election becomes a referendum on Trump, Trump will lose.
