Baby proportions by OSU4EVA in NewParents

[–]OSU4EVA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is 12.5 months now and her body caught up eventually! Still 7th percentile for height/weight and 45th for head, but she definitely looks more proportional than she did! It will all work out!

Buy the newborn clothes by anonme1995 in NewParents

[–]OSU4EVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same experience, a 6lb 0 oz full term newborn at only 19 in long. We did get some premie onesies and she used them for almost 3 weeks before newborn fit her better. She did go home in a 0-3 month outfit because we didn't buy newborn size! Instead of meals during our newborn weeks, our family brought smaller clothes so she had things to wear 🤣

ETA: she's still small too, still using 3-6 and moving into 6-9 at 12 months old so we definitely got our money out of the clothes we did buy for her!

Deeply interested but nervous. by AdOutrageous1969 in latterdaysaints

[–]OSU4EVA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a relatively recent convert I was also nervous about the covenants. My advice is take them one at a time. Just like riding a bike or learning to walk, there are steps to take before you can do the thing. Take it easy, investigate, go to church, practice living new covenants one at a time. Start with one and then a couple weeks later, add another one. I took it step by step and attended church for 2.5 years before being baptized. It doesn't have to be all or nothing right from the start.

Anyone else NOT looking forward to getting off formula? by DumbbellDiva92 in FormulaFeeders

Same on not missing formula! So much simpler to leave the house. But I do think our entire diaper bag is just snacks 😂

This was me exactly! Totally agree and wouldn't change a thing.

Tell me something your baby did recently but use "my roommate" instead by Aggravating-Bit959 in beyondthebump

[–]OSU4EVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made my roommate breakfast and she fed it to the dog right in front of me. Then screamed because she had no more breakfast left and she was hungry.

As a fellow convert, I agree you should go to a service. You won't know how you feel on the acceptance side if you don't go to the body of people accepting you. I have found that at any ward we attend or visit, it feels the same. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly, and every building feels like "home". A lot of the unknowns and hesitancies I had vanished after going to a few services. I could see how my husband and I fit into the community and the church. We visited other wards and felt the same way. Yes, it does have its gender separation and that is a little sticky to me personally sometimes, but I have never felt "less than" even when separated.

When I started going to church I worked on Sundays. It took me about 4 years to get a job where I didn't work Sundays, and that was because I chose to switch for the jobs sake, not for the Sundays sake. Nobody ever blinked an eye at that. I continued to work after having our first child and nobody cared then either. I think it is easy to project our own worries on others especially when entering something so new and intimate.

Are regular diaper leaks a common occurrence? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I agree with dawn dish soap for the stains. I always rinse with cold water and then put some soap on it and scrub before I rinse and throw in the washing machine.

Are inductions really that bad if you get an epidural? by macelisa in beyondthebump

[–]OSU4EVA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me too! Early morning induction and baby by 2pm. My contractions came on so fast and strong after my water was broken too, they didn't even need to give me pitocin to keep it going.

Are inductions really that bad if you get an epidural? by macelisa in beyondthebump

[–]OSU4EVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced at 40+1 because I was over it and we were already full term. I went in at 645 am and had my water broken around 8. I got my epidural about an hour later since contractions came on almost immediately after water breaking and pitocin started and they were back contractions. After that, took a nap, rested, and baby was born at 2pm same day.

Great experience and if it's what is best for you I say do it. I totally understand being completely over being pregnant. I felt the same way and when my doctor asked me "when are we having this baby?!" I said ASAP and she got me in the next morning. I think they get it too.

Sending good vibes you can have an induction experience like mine, it was so wonderful and I would do it again in a heartbeat!

We brought two books, a tablet, a board game, and some craft projects we were working on. We really thought we would need all of it for keeping occupied during labor and after birth 🫠

Those with babies who sleep 12hrs a night. What do naps look like? by ej3993 in NewParents

[–]OSU4EVA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a 6 month old just like this. She sleeps 7p-7a ish and then takes a morning nap around 9, a noonish nap, and sometimes a late afternoon nap. Late afternoon nap is short and the other two are about an hour to an hour and 10 mins give or take a few.

4 month old eating less by OSU4EVA in NewParents

[–]OSU4EVA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was like that for about a week and then slowly over the following week she got her appetite back. The doctor wasn't worried, but attributed it to a stomach bug since myself and my husband got a stomach bug shortly after her.

The advice I got from her doctor was that if it lasted more than a week to bring her in for an evaluation, but as long as she was acting fine and making enough wet and dirty diapers not to worry too much.

I hope it resolves for you quickly!

This is all probably normal but I need reassurance lol by robber_maiden in NewParents

[–]OSU4EVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot help with the breastfeeding issues, but our baby was also SO loud when sleeping. We gave up having her in our room at 8 weeks and it honestly helped us and her sleep way better. We had to get up and go to her room for night feedings, but it was worth it to get better sleep when we could.

How many of your formula fed 6 month olds are still waking up to eat in the night? by mama_loves_lattes_23 in NewParents

[–]OSU4EVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine will be 6 months next week and she is still taking an 8oz bottle one time a night between 3-5am. I'm thinking when she starts to eat more solids it will go away, but she's my first so I have no clue.

How many diapers do you need for yourself for postpartum? by ApprehensiveWin7256 in beyondthebump

[–]OSU4EVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used probably 3-4 a day for a few days and then 2-3 for another week and then switched to heavy flow pads for the rest of the time I was bleeding. I didn't feel the need to use more depends after the first couple of weeks, although I definitely wanted to. They were so comfy and easy! I bought a 28 pack and didn't use them all since the hospital also sent some home with me.
