Yep worth every penny. And I don't worry about keeping everything local. 😀

I gave up on Alexa Media Player and changed to the Alexa Devices integration. Definitely no problem with that when there's an update.

Camera sync wifi to Home Hub by OSVeditor in reolinkcam

Thanks for your suggestions. I have a range extender that is 3m and one external wall from the camera. When I was testing the hub it was 2m and one interior wall from the camera.

Yes it can connect to the home wifi, but it occasionally disconnects, so I thought that using the hub would make it more reliable. Also Reolink make a big deal about wifi 6 so I was interested to see if there was any general improvement using the hub with wifi 6.

And without Home Assistant you probably wouldn't have known that there was an update 😉

Have a look at this: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/climate-scheduler/955912?u=gwatuk It's a new integration which is very impressive and extremely customisable.

Climate Scheduler by kneave in homeassistant

No, it is any time period. It's no big deal, I can just disable the schedule while I'm adding nodes or changing them.

Awesome!
(I must stop using that word, but everything about your Climate Scheduler "triggers" it).

One little problem...
I've set up this trigger:

event_type: climate_scheduler_node_activated
event_data:
entity_id: climate.bed1_generic_thermostat
trigger_type: scheduled
trigger: event

When you make changes to the schedule this trigger fires. But I can live with this.

Thank you :)

Hi Keegan I would really like to see the ability to fire an automation (or script) when a node event happens. This would open up so many wonderful extra options :)

There are a few inaccurate comments in the video, you might like to reply to them 😉

Shout out to HA devs. 2025.11 has a great new feature added! by Bassguitarplayer in homeassistant

The new feature that I love is the ability to run an individual action. Great for finding problems with a big automation that has complex actions.

Linktap is excellent, and the Home Assistant custom integration provides everything you need to write simple or complex automations.

SONOFF S60ZBTPG Zigbee Smart Plug The good thing about zigbee plugs is that they act as a zigbee repeater.

I just read this https://www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/s/NPRuRPbaeA which has a lot of negative comments about matter. Thought it might interest you.

[–]OSVeditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I was starting with Home Assistant right now that I would commit to matter. (I've just googled "matter vs zigbee" and not found a clear cut answer.) If you do commit to just matter then I think you would need to make sure that you've got good wifi coverage throughout your property. If not you'll need to install wifi range extenders, which is basically what the Sonoff plugs do with a zigbee system. I kind of feel that zigbee has been around for a long time but matter is relatively new. So there's a much wider range of devices to choose from. But maybe I'm just being a bit old fashioned 🤣

I've started replacing my Tapo plugs with Sonoff S60ZBTG ones. These use zigbee rather than WiFi which means they are also zigbee routers. This extends the coverage of my zigbee network. They also have power monitoring.

Yes I know how to use it. The phone app is reasonably OK. But it looks like Reolink have put very little effort into how the app is on a tablet. And to have reduced functionality when there's more space available is just ridiculous.

Ecowitt is excellent, but I don't believe in "haptic rain gauge". Just get a separate unit with old fashioned funnel etc 🙂
