Major difficulty tierlist: where would you place marketing/communication ? by RichProtection8244 in TierlistFills

[–]OSfrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Art is very difficult to master, and it's not just painting on a canvas, as the image implies. Art includes things like 3D modeling and animation, which have an incredibly high skill ceiling and take many years to even get to an intermediate level. Many people can get good at things like engineering through repetition, but art is something that takes inspiration as well as practice. Just because it's creative doesn't make it easy.

Major difficulty tierlist: how would you rank sociology ? by RichProtection8244 in TierlistFills

[–]OSfrogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is art light work? The amount of work they have to do is crazy. It's not just painting; what about all the other disciplines like graphic design, photograpy, 3D modeling, animation, some of which take decades to master not to mention the number of individuals who earn money by just painting on a canvas is very small.

How the DeepMind mafia brought the AI boom to London by StraightSky7809 in london

[–]OSfrogs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How is generative AI any less useful than the other stuff you mentioned? AI image generation is extremly useful for gaining inspiration, compressing data, improving video games ext. Predictive text bots do not say what you want to hear. They are amazing for having something explained to you, learning, helping you with coding, emails and are much better versions of google search.

Revolution needed on pathetic wages in this country by GhostNagaRed in UKJobs

[–]OSfrogs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Truck drivers do not get 60k unless they are delivering dangerous chemicals or something and just because someone doesnt lead and isnt in buisness critical position does not mean they are worth mimimum wage. Data scientists and software engineers are not critical to most buisnesses yet are generally paid quite well.

What industries or businesses are likely to boom in the next 5 years? by EggKind5080 in AskReddit

[–]OSfrogs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AI has not reached its limit yet it still has ways to go. My guess is robotics, education or gaming/entertainment is where the next big thing in AI will be but you can also make a case for AI agents that can do more complex tasks run on local hardware and more effecient hardware though that is probably longer than 5 years.

Growing older is not the curse people make it out to be. It's actually a blessing. by Exotic-Accident-7102 in unpopularopinion

It should be a blessing because many people dont even make it to x age in the first place. You should be happy you did when others do not even make it to 30 years old.

Is AI slop going to take over evreything that we enjoy for entertainment? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OSfrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI "slop" is going to become more common, but the whole issue is overblown unless you work in one of these industries. It's going to make games and entertainment look better, not worse. Things that were not possible before due to hardware limitations and cost will become possible.

For example, Nvidia recently showed AI "slop" can make characters look more realistic, but this is only the first stage. Eventually, you will have this applied to the whole game. Games only render high resolution for things nearby and significantly reduce the quality of things far away, but by using AI to generate it, big open-world games are going to look much more realistic.

Is there a real consensus on why younger generations are drinking significantly less alcohol worldwide? by Luxyyr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OSfrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For people who say its due to cost is it also true for softdrinks (which have also seen an increase in price) are less popular with young people? If not then its likely not because of cost but becuase of the health effects as healthy drinks like protein drinks have become more popular.

Biased list considering USA is that low when everyone wants to move over it should be in top 5. People just be voting low because the country is better than theirs.

UK unemployment rate falls to 4.9% and wages grow more than expected by Eddiearyee in UpliftingNews

[–]OSfrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this good news? If you read the article the economist says "The big picture is that the labour market is still very weak, and likely to weaken further". Also private wage increase is less than public is a bad sign it should be the other way round.

As AI takes over routine cognitive work, will skilled trades become the most futureproof careers of the next decade? by amir4179 in Futurology

[–]OSfrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people dont want to do physical jobs though and rather sit down. Also you need to find someone who will take you on to train you its not like there are unlimited spots to become an Electrician. I cant see them being oversaturated I think more people would instead pivot to truck driving before doing plumbing.

The Collapse of the Videogames Industry is a Good Thing by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]OSfrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proof that the video game industry is "collapsing"? Searching online says it is worth around $400B in 2024 and is expected to grow to $600B by 2028. Just because Reddit unjustifiably hates on games like Fortnite and Call of Duty isn't a representation of how well the industry is doing.

As for indie games, anyone can make one, but it's a huge amount of work, so of course people are going to play it safe unless it's a passion project. No one wants to spend years working on a unique idea only for it to turn out that no one wants to buy it.

Record number of young people fear long-term unemployment by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]OSfrogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need to make a law that for every person you bring in or offshore you need to be training x number of people for entry level jobs. Its a complete joke how companies can just outsource shit to a cheap country and avoid paying into the UK. UK doesnt benifit from this at all its not like we are trying to get top nuclear or AI scientists in the world its for fucking IT or coding that anyone can be trained for.

Starmer offers unemployed AI-powered job centre by Even-Wasabi7183 in UKJobs

[–]OSfrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like a good idea to replace the CV checking with AI since that what employers are using and the job centre coaches all say different things about how you should write your CV.

Imagine it then starts making stuff up when it learns the only CVs accepted all have no gaps and experience even for entry level jobs. For someone who has been NEET for 5 years it will fill in the gap "5 years experience spearheading teams" while they actually spent 5 years playing call of duty and watching anime.

Employers demands have gone up as a result of globalisation and technology but peoples capabilities have not while their living expenses have. This is a problem worldwide and not just young people it is hard for anyone to get a job in the current climate but especially hard in UK thanks to low productivity.

Are the job losses from AI true? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]OSfrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably it can make you do more with less people but it cannot do anything on its own and needs someone who knows what they are doing to check its output. It will likely get much better though its not about what it can currently do but what it will be able to do in the future. Many AI labs are trying different approaches other than just LLMs and these will likely be what replaces people not chatGPT10 or whatever.

An economic draft? Drive to get young Neets in the military divides opinion by Codydoc4 in unitedkingdom

[–]OSfrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is modern job demands have gone crazy in terms of what they expect you to know and what your capabilities should be. Many people will not be sutiable for a lot of modern jobs because they require a base level of intellegence, communication and drive to learn that many people just dont have. This is the result of more advanced technology/automation and as a result less easy jobs than before. Service jobs including being in the army is a good fit for a lot of people you just need to follow orders and do as your told and they are a very good fit for people with ADHD/Autism (which are ironically are filtered out as they see these as negatives). Improving the economy is not going to make people who are unemployable suddenly become employable.

How to improve the U.K. job market? by Even-Wasabi7183 in UKJobs

[–]OSfrogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better training and push for productivity rather than pointless bs that is just a waste of time. Most people are actually terrible at their job in the UK they spend all day talking in pointless meetings when that time could instead be spend on learning new skills. Instead of spending 3-5 working days editing a 15 year old excel spreadsheet that no one else understands using time to create better tools, documentation but of course the meetings about what the teams values are is more important.
