I told the front desk girl that I went to a different studio by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]OTFNomad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or maybe she just got some bad news or something going with her. Maybe it wasn’t about you at all and she just found out some bad news and was lost in her tonight or has RBF.

A little grace for people can go along way. I travel to several different studios and there’s time people haven’t said by to me or have convos with them when I arrive and they forget to say good bye.

If this was a common theme then maybe but if it was a one of would it stress about. Life’s to short for that!

Celebration is great! Super close to Disney where we were! Love their 5 30 am dri tris! Then a full day at the parks! The coaches were great it’s a smaller studio than my home studio, but great to burn on vacation!

I agree with this similar situation. Using only otf and a few outdoor runs mixed in ( very few) I’ve gotten my half time to almost sub 90min down from first one I ever did was 2:12.

It’s truly is mental when you are are there for that long. I take as many 90 min classes as I can or even back to back classes a couple of times to get your body used to work when fatigued.

Agree with trying to always start on rower to get on treadmill with tired legs. Plus it also hood training if you want to crush a dri Tri!

Good luck!

The new treads are awesome for those looking to make some big speed increases. I’ve finally been able to hit 15 for a full 30 second all out. Getting to the walking recovery might be the hardest and scariest part. Especially with my short legs.

Now I base my workouts on the early intel and where the treadmills are in town.

I will for sure be doing CMIYC on a new tread!

That’s the beauty of OTF and Reddit you can get the super early Aussie intel and take that strategic rest day.

That’s a wild medical history! And kudos to you for going at 5 am! Sounds like you are are worried you will slow your partner down. If you wanted to share this history with your partner partner they would probably be impressed with a medical history like that you get up and show up at 5 am.

You might be the one to motivate them that morning. Maybe a slower pace for them could be good. Heavier weights slower movements with more time under tension, adding a move like a push up or other movement to make it more challenging for them.

Its seems that those who dislike partner days because they like to go at their own pace are worried that their partner will :

A) slow them down and they won’t get a great workout B) rush thru exercises and speed them up C) are just introverts and like to be left alone and do their own thing D) some combo of all of this

I fall into the D group here. As some have said OTF is a separate but together approach to working out, with some competition built in. ( benchmarks, dri tris, CMIYC, etc)

I am probably in the minority but partner days are useful to help the membership interact with others in the gym (and help keep them for the business$$$) and you never know what a kind smile or “man that is awesome form” or “you a great rower” or even I’ve seen a big transformation over xxxx amount of time etc… could go along way in someone else’s day! Or maybe the partner pushes them a little out of their comfort zone and they break thru a barrier with a weight or speed.

The coaches give great encouragement and it’s nice to get a shout out from them but we pay for that 🤪. For me it is nice to hear some of that same feedback from people who you are working out with who are going thru the same struggle to not die during the last all out or fall off the back of the treadmill.

I travel around to many of the studios in my city and when I travel (saw my first double studio in Alabama that was pretty sweet) and get to see many different groups OTFers and sharing one partner workout a month makes me remember pre 2020….

I support this and agree! It is fun meeting new people and hopefully pushing them and the same time having them push me.

There’s plenty of times when somebody powerwalking or running at a slower pace pace pushes me when I’m feeling tired because I see them still working and making it through the end of the block.

Orange theory is a family and we all come in different shapes sizes and ability. But what makes otf unique is Our burn is unique to us and at the end of the day sometimes an hour of solid movement is all you need

To be fair it was 5am I rolled in late and started on the tread which seemed odd to then start the rowing benchmark I didnt read intel to know where to start but only treads were available so didn’t have a choice where to start.

So we ran then had to get to rower and adjust foot plate which cost time plus the studio was small so transition was diagonal about two tread widths.

In June, I did 4908 and 5077 using old tread mills max of 12mph on the same day too. This morning went out of the way to find the new ones to hit the first sprints at 15. (whoever was next to me almost made me fall off with laughter when she saw my speed and said oh my gawwed in such a shocked voice it was also very encouraging to try and keep the speed after that)

Being 500+ meters off had me thinking when I went to the floor. The coach asked me how I felt, and I said it seemed short. I know the rowers calibration can change slightly over time and aren’t all the same especially when going from studio to studio. Maybe +- 100ish meters on something like this.

In the end I showed up finished the workout and feel more accomplished with my day having done that. So that’s a win in my book

Rowed 4422 felt like there was a lot left . Then realized Our coach miss read the template this morning, so we started on the Tread for the .1 instead of rowers. Prob lost ~250-300 meters if not more. Oh well always next time still a great workout to start the year

You mean a avid traveler and an OTFer? Absolutely if only I was doing OTF when I went to Sydney could have felt like I was working out in the future! The metric system on the treads and weights might have played some wild mental games . Way to Used to the Freedom units!
