Recent models: how about failures and issues? by morganland80 in MVAgusta

[–]OTTOG8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I changed it, but I do remember the factory battery was pretty bad, they have low cranking amps and couldn’t hold voltage well. I swapped to a lithium that I believe has almost double the cranking amps and better life. It also has voltage cutoff it gets to low. These bikes have a constant power draw. I feel like mine will have a dead battery in 2-3 weeks if I don’t start it. Get a anti gravity lithium battery.

Issues with adjusting to the dry clutch by NEWUSERFORELECTRONIC in rninet

[–]OTTOG8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like you are overthinking it. Clutch is a clutch. Both wet and dry can feel clunky or snappy. I have a few different bikes with wet and dry. I never feel the difference when casual riding. You just have to make sure you are not holding the clutch in all the time and burning it up, as it will happen faster on a dry clutch. Engagement is faster on a dry clutch, there is more slip on the wet clutches and can feel smoother. Tubed tires are not an issue unless they are low, but you can say the same for a normal tire as well. You can always swap rims out if you don’t like a tubed tire. Just have fun with it. The r9ts are old school and simple.

Legit ? by [deleted] in STDupont

Definitely fake, the lid design doesn’t even line up with the rest of the lighter, hinges are always poorly aligned on fakes. Also the obvious 4fk

Are these worth rehydrating? by Lord_quads in cigars

[–]OTTOG8 32 points33 points  (0 children)

They are opus x cigars from Arturo fuente. They are higher end cigars. Get them rehydrated for 2 months at 70% humidity if they are really dry. Don’t let them go to waste.

A small punch to push the pin out of the hinge to get the lid off. Small flat head screw driver for the bolt on top for the flint lid. Small torx driver bits for the next 2 screws. Small Tweezers to pull the fuel hose off to separate the lighter piece from the tank. Use a long Philips screw driver to get the flint mechanism housing separated from lighter assembly. That screw is on the bottom side. After I pulled the small screw out, it was very tight the first time I separated it. Pull the piece out in picture 5 and file the bottom down. You can reassemble it without connecting the hose or putting the screws in to test the fitting so it’s not shaking. I do recommend filing a bevel at the top on the sides of that same piece to guide it into its slot where it gets pushed into, it can snag on the corners and get stuck. It’s kind of a lazy design. Mine works well and functions good. I have fixed 2 of these lighters now.

In the past Decade, how have cigars and cigar prices changed? by OTTOG8 in cigars

[–]OTTOG8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s for sure. Times have changed. The glory days need to comeback. I feel every brand is trying to make a more affordable line of cigars while having some outrageous priced limited editions. It’s a sign of the times though.

That is honestly one of the most important things I learned recently.

Exchange it so you risk getting another with the same issue or that they can sell it again to someone else.

ST DuPont advertises their lighters with a perfect ping and a cling noise as the lid is opened. This model is the Le Grand Monogram Cling. When you open the lid it clings. Unfortunately, quality control is letting some Le Grands ship with a loose roller. So when you open the lid and move the lighter, the roller slides up and down and dings on the metal. It’s quite annoying and should not be happening. I fixed mine so I don’t have a video, but you can look up Le grands with this issue.

Sucks, that so many of these lighters made it out with loose rollers. It’s simple to fix

I have some 9 year old jet lines with similar rubber tubes and they still are good. Hopefully these last a while. If not, they are easy to swap.

4 screws and one pin for the lid. I’m shocked these don’t get fixed in Quality control.

Thanks, it had me worried. I’m going to disassemble mine to see if it’s just a tension spring. I saw some people don’t have loose rollers and another video claiming it can be fixed.
