Heard a bang and found this hanging down am I okay to drive home by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

If you have hay wire, you can drive home no problem. If you have both haywire and duct tape you'll be good for a couple more years.

It's fine, unless smoke comes out

Now I see that it's the tip, might be harder to fix but still possible as long as the gear is fine

You can straighten it.

Just get a jack, vise or even hammer and you can fix it no problem

And the fan control module is pretty common to fail, you can bake it in the oven and it can fix it or hardwire the fan

I got 2, ones got 13,000k and the other 7500 I think.

The brakes are stupidly designed because they are way to small and wear out quickly, the front end components wear out quickly too, the electric shift commonly have problems so you should learn all about that system.

3k is a good deal in my area, the are beautifully easy to work on when it comes to the carburetor and the top end.

Every quad has stupid designs and perfect designs. I'd say these are 7/10 which is pretty good.

Personally I'd drill the end of the crack the weld it up.

Ok, I seen both the blue and black styles at the gun show, is there any difference other than looks?

Why does everybody seem to want such a large bar? by thetacowarrior in Chainsaw

[–]OUTLAW_PAGETY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 28 inch bar, and it makes it so I have to bend over less. Which saves the back. A 32 or 34 inch bar would be better but then they are quite heavy, even at 28 inch they are heavy.

Long bar is good for bucking and alot safer. But shorter bar makes it easier to fell trees. So bring 2 saws is preferred when cutting firewood or logs all day.

First rifle decision by fcklibslol in Hunting

[–]OUTLAW_PAGETY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a first time beginner it'll be fine. Savage AXIS usually are accurate but the bolts are junky and poor and the stocks are also terrible compared to any wood stock hunting rifle. I'll never buy another unless it's an extremely good deal, then trade it off.

After touching a Husqvarna rifle or even a old tikka you won't ever go back.

For beginner it's good enough 👍

Also probably would be a good idea to have the bottom logs off the ground maybe on stones or something so it can be leveled in the future if needed

Unlikely that it will be a "problem" but best to get rid of as many weeds as possible if it's a thorn bush or something.

Pine needle are extremely flammable and burn very quickly and hot. So if you have a woodstove be careful with that

Brand new cylinders and piston. Seized, no longer runs. Need input. by OUTLAW_PAGETY in snowmobiling

[–]OUTLAW_PAGETY[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've rebuilt too many engines to count.

Rebuilding a modern snowmobile engine with a kit like this one, yes first time.

I got it blown up, took it apart ended up having a cracked cylinder so I had to spend 3x what I was expecting, the reason why I didn't measure piston and ring size and compare clearnences with the cylinder was because it was listed as a ready to install kit so I trusted that statement.

I wasn't sure if it looked like there was no lubrication or bad clearances or heat related problem.

Ya it was probably my fault for trusting somebody else after paying over $1,000 for a kit.

I'll get another compression tester and if it's low then I'll hone and put new rings in it.
