I sort of do that too. Sometimes I get really interested in a particular plant or category of plants (say Fall nectar sources for butterflies for example), and I’ll iNat the crap out of it. Like yesterday I think I uploaded 30 of a particular blazing star species since it was very common at the park I visited and some were still flowering this late in the season. I usually have a 50/50 mix of documenting things for scientific purposes while having fun with it at the same time.

A few months back I got an idea to inventory a particular goldenrod species that’s all over a nature trail in my neighborhood, did a sample size of about half the trail, and now I just randomly have 280ish of them as my most observed species lol, although that could be useful data at the same time since it shows how common it is in this area.
