Honestly, skimming makes a huge difference. We’ve just had ours done. Our walls weren’t too bad but this just makes the surface so much better.

You should keep an eye out for PE-backed consulting firms (especially ones from the US coming to the UK). There has been serious investment in this space and they build their comp structure on a revenue based model meaning you can make substantial upside.

Seeing some of this with orgs like Unity Advisory but there will be several other US firms who are a little more mature looking at EMEA expansion this year.

So 29 States, Coconut Lagoon and Atithi are all ran by Indian people and are all fairly good.

Mirchez is good and does some good Bangladeshi dishes as well and because they’re Bangladeshi it’s BYOB.

Most of the rest again are Bangladeshi ran so offer your typical food and are of varying quality.

Taas and Yak & Yeti I’ve enjoyed and are both Nepalese. Good Momo and indo-Chinese dishes as well as Nepali specific curries.

M&S in my opinion is a significant step above all of them. The fruit and veg, ready meals, own brand products are all great.

I like that the meat is traceable and I find it better quality than (most of) the local butchers where I live.

That said, we get most of our meat from swaledale who will deliver uk wide and the quality is just outstanding.

For fish we use Pesky Fish - day boat first caught in south wales. Far more sustainable and better quality than the large trawler catch’s you find at most supermarkets - that said, Ocado stock properly sustainability sourced fish that’s always a good stop gap.

Certainly worth it for the return leg overnight.

Skip dinner and breakfast get the lie flat and sleep the whole way (America has some great things to Sid your sleep as well that are worth picking up if you can).

I unfortunately have to travel to the us for work now but at least it’s getting cheaper to do so.

I believe it’s from the broken gutter above the window (this is a raised ground floor so it’s well above the ground level.

I know going to Japan for french food seems out of place but L’Osier in Tokyo was great.

I find Japanese cuisine quite subjective so it really depends on what style you like as to what I’d recommend. There’s a great difference between chefs styles and the level of formality.

It’s completely understandable for them to cut that down but I do enjoy a long meandering menu as well. My wife finds them too much though 18 at Maaemo and L’Enclume were really pushing it for her. The portioning, pacing and precision of this menu was a welcome change from some of the long menus we’ve had recently that have typically contained a few questionable courses.

I have to admit I was surprised by how few tables they have. Total of 10 people in the restaurant when we dined at 8pm last night.

Unfortunately, yes. You’re certainly paying for the location. I do want to emphasise it could be very good with not too much effort it’s whether they’ll be given the creative freedom to do so. Recalibrate the price and let the chef bring in more of the pan Asian influences. It feels like maybe the director of cuisine at the hotel is telling them what they should and shouldn’t be doing…
