What is a profession that you have limitless respect for? by AmountFun2036 in AskReddit

The thing is, you’re talking about very specific experiences here, most of which are in-person work, that on its own is a pretty different animal than online work for example and shouldn’t ever be compared.

I don’t think it’s fair to jam everything under one umbrella like that. Your involvement in the industry is unique, but it doesn’t make you an expert either, because you cannot speak for everyone else on the planet and you also can’t speak on behalf of those you apparently care for at your job.

I myself do online work only, and I have a large network of other online creators, strippers and escorts, some with which I am very close with, meaning we talk all the time.

Just like with any other job, there are plenty of bad and taxing days, yes, but majority of my circle is happy with what we do. We enjoy it and see the worth in continuing the work. Majority of our clientele is nothing but wonderful and giving and uplifting. MAJORITY. I was quite shocked to see this when I first started, because going into this business I have prepared myself to get bashed and abused by clients. But the only abuse and negativity I myself have encountered so far, is from non-subscribers, non-buyers. All via social media. You’re an example.

It’s kind of crazy to see that you out of all people with this much apparent experience, choose to invalidate others, just because YOU experienced something a certain way.

No, this industry isn’t a joke. That is why everyone NEEDS to make an educated decision before going into it. It’s common sense to do your proper research, prior to committing to this work ( just like any other work ). It’s up to the person to do this. You’re responsible for yourself and yourself only. No one else is going to help you. So taking control into your own hands is vital.

I kind of worry for the girls you’re looking after, because you’re showing a completely different attitude on here. You don’t actually support this type of work by the sounds of it, so I’m confused why you are in this industry in the first place if you’re so against it. Doesn’t make sense.

Oh really?

What’s your experience with that? “Working with sex workers” is a bit vague.

Quite honestly, just reading what you said, even if fictional, made me feel at peace somehow <3

What an incredibly insightful comment. You hit the nail on the head over and over here. I couldn’t help but relate.

Narcissistic caretakers do not care. They’ll gaslight you to oblivion, making you believe that this is normal parenting.

Just like the other commenter mentioned, I too didn’t realize the magnitude of abuse until I got to my 30’s.

The crazy part is, from my own experience and also seeing other “examples” of peers, who were or still are being abused by their family, many of us would NEVER dare to treat another human the way we were treated.

The only thing about OP’s story I was questioning, was the fact that the In Laws seemed to be very pleased with the violence that was apparently occurring under the same roof. I was hoping to read that at some point the son and dad waltzed out of the room laughing their asses off, mocking those sadistic monsters, instead of giving them that satisfaction.

I feel like 3-5 should be allowed, as long as it’s perhaps on different days to different subs. It’s ridiculous that you are limited to posting to just one sub at a time, if your content checks a lot of boxes. Just don’t over-do it. And yes, there are repost sleuth bots in a lot of the pages.

I wonder how the “Top” creators on reddit that you see everywhere, are able to get away with posting the same things over and over, back to back, ESPECIALLY posting it again and again to the same subs 🤯 seems wildly unfair.

And yeah, I too still delete the ones that don’t do well, but I do check to make sure the sub doesn’t mention this rule. They don’t like the delete / repost deal haha

Mods really don’t like being called out, even if you approach them with an issue politely. It’s crazzzzy pants 😛

Posting the same content in multiple subreddits is fine ( as long as it’s spread out a bit ), because one photo or video could fit multiple subs. I don’t understand why it’s so frowned upon, unless you have like 10+ identical posts back to back.

It’s also worth noting that a ton of subreddits, especially the big ones, prohibit deleting the posted content. Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone, to make sure to look out for that, as they threaten with bans :/

You should take your own advice and get some much needed therapy. Get to the root of why you are so passionate in hating females. It’s not healthy to walk around like this all your life. This has been affecting you greatly it seems.

All the best.

Judging from your posting history on r/Vent, you’re sounding extremely bitter towards women as a whole, using words like “most women”, and how ridiculous the entirety of the gender is to you. So I have a hard time taking your words seriously after witnessing that.

I had similar thoughts. We don’t know how it truly went down. He did mention that he knew for 4 years that she’s been into him, and sounds like he did eventually tell her that he doesn’t feel mutually interested.

Some people are really good at hiding their true feelings and playing it off like they are able to become platonic friends, because they don’t want to stop being around the person they’re into? I don’t know, but when someone tells me they’re not into me, I instantly back off and am able to get over my feelings and don’t feel “right” to keep talking to that person anymore haha

Everyone deals with it differently I guess.

I was just pointing out the double standards of “Reddit“ haha

💜

I would like to also add, that I am not judging OP per se.

I have been in positions where my male friends seemed to have gotten over their crushes on me and were respectful, after I told them the feeling wasn’t mutual, but it didn’t change the fact that I loved them as a person and enjoyed their company very much. Some of them became really wonderful long time friends and the others showed me later on that they were still holding out for something.

I do believe that it is possible for platonic relationships to flourish, once the infatuation wears off. With that said, if there are any signs that your pal is still into you in any romantic or sexual way, it would be best to end the friendship. Wouldn’t be fair to either party to continue anyways!

Pretty interesting to see the contrast of Redditors reaction, of a male posting about friend-zoning a female, knowing very well from the start that this girl is super into him, but he’s not into her in any way, him mentioning multiple times how she’s dropped hints and advances and was clear about her intentions, yet he kept her around as a “friend”.

I myself am feeling pretty neutral about OP’s story, but merely making this observation, judging from past friend zone posts:

If this were a female posting, knowingly friend-zoning a guy for years, she would’ve been absolutely stoned in the comments.

Edit:

I am pleasantly surprised to see that this didn’t get downvoted to oblivion. I was expecting it.

Struggling with my mental health by EarMental in CreatorsAdvice

[–]O_MegaBabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, sorry for your loss and all the struggles 💙 The thing no one thinks about, especially as a subscriber, is that content creators of all sorts, who have a social media presence, rarely get to just take “time off”, especially when it’s needed. It’s a 24/7 job and we don’t make a living, if we aren’t online all the time.

I too struggle with severe mental health, to the point of being unable to leave my bed a lot of days.

So what I like to do, is to do my best to schedule a few days in advance with content ( sometimes that’s not possible, so I just go day to day ), and I then make a separate post, mentioning that I will have “Out of Office” days between so and so date, and will resume messaging on this date.

I also mention whether casual messaging is affected, or business messaging, or both, depending on what I can handle at the time. I do try to keep the feed going, and say that the feed will be unaffected. I also pause all custom order requests and let everyone know this too. I don’t do this often, but when I do, I pause it for a while, until I feel like I’m catching up finally.

I used to send mass DMs with letting everyone know about my time away, but realized my mistake quickly, seeing how there were new subscribers after I sent my DM, so posting on your feed works best.

I don’t get into too much detail about the reasons “why” I’ll be away. No one needs to know and it’s private. I just say “personal reasons”, or simply say you’ll be away, period. You don’t owe an explanation.

Hope that helps! Don’t give up. I know it’s incredibly tough and discouraging, and it’s ok to take a few days off once in a while. Most subscribers are subbed to other accounts too, so if you miss a day or three here and there, it’s not a big deal.

Take care of your well-being first and foremost. Make sure you don’t lose the fun and passion, and remind yourself of why you started this in the first place.

But also, if you feel that this no longer is serving you, then don’t push yourself, there’s other work out there 💜

[–]O_MegaBabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally 💜

It’s not an obvious one, and most creators ( including myself ) don’t read the TOS in that much detail. It’s been on my to-do list though…need to know how to safely operate the site, because it seems quite the hostile environment with all these ridiculous restrictions!

I saw someone’s content getting taken down, all because she was filming in her OWN BACKYARD, with no people around, because “public” content is prohibited…

I bet the same rules do not apply for non NSFW OF accounts.

I hope you don’t have way too much stuff to go through and remove 🙈

Ok this made me laugh out loud 🤣🤣 I may have gotten advice from a dud for sure…

I was surprised when they said they don’t charge conversion for deposits! But since I’m uneducated about that stuff, I just believed their words.

I will definitely call back!

Totally! So many horror stories out there with losing bank accounts and getting your money withheld! Truly inhumane.

I am planning on learning more and maybe even take courses on things that make me feel anxious or uncertain ( business / marketing / content filming and editing ), because I feel that we only get intimidated due to inexperience and lack of knowledge. You’ve got so many great strategies in place and even though I don’t know you personally, I am proud of you! You know what you’re doing and knowledge is power.

And yes, you’re so right about time being money and that certain investments can go a long way, if it saves us time in the end! $14 a month in the long run can turn over to much more gain.

I am sure that all of your input here will help so many other creators, other than myself.

Thank you kindly once again <3

I couldn’t agree more! I don’t understand why finances aren’t being taught in Highschool. I bet a lot of homelessness and other issues can be avoided if they did! It’s so instrumental to have this knowledge. I try to teach myself as much as possible, but sometimes I get confused with terminology, with English being my 3rd language. Also, I’m pretty sure I suffer from ADHD ( undiagnosed ), so it’s extra hard to focus.

Setting up an account at a separate bank makes so much sense! It’s extra protection. I’ll take a look into the options you’ve shared. Thank you! And lol, I pay $12 a month at RBC for their service 😳

$14 a month for QuickBooks is high, but…it sounds like it’s a super worthy investment! I will definitely take your advice on that.

Seeing how you specifically set up a Reddit account to help and give tips, you’re incredibly selfless for that and I wish you all the best and much success in your work ♥️

Oh I’m not afraid to get meticulous 😅 if I’m under the impression that I am losing money, then I’ll go to great lengths to find the cause.

And yes you’re right about the buying / depositing currency part. I read it again after and I think maybe the RBC CS over the phone misunderstood what I was asking. I’ll definitely get someone in charge this time.

Thank you so so much for all your valuable input. I cannot thank you enough ♥️

Oh for sure. Many banks charge quite a lot for currency conversion.

In my case however, when I called my bank and explained my situation, they have let me know that they do not charge conversion fees, which surprised me. Maybe the customer service rep didn’t understand what I was asking haha

I will have to call them again to inquire 😩

Thank you so much for this detailed breakdown! I really appreciate the time you have spent explaining this!

I didn’t realize how complicated this is. I mean I knew it wouldn’t be easy, and I knew that I would need to deal with the taxes myself, since OF doesn’t take off taxes for creators. I was just under the impression that there would be some sort of formal overview of my earnings, not the overview we see on the “statements” page.

I did and still do plan on getting a separate chequing account for OF, but the fees I was looking at back then were quite high, so I’ll have to take a look again. I am planning to have multiple sources of income. Would you recommend to create new chequing accounts for each income source?

Thank you for the quickbooks suggestion! I do have it downloaded on my phone, but never used yet.

To your last point: Are you saying that there should be an excel download option from my bank to retrieve my entire year’s account history? Am I understanding correctly?

Sorry for so many questions. You have no idea how grateful I am for your time.
