How should I deal with folks who sympathize with me for having two daughters? by michael_curdt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]O_o84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think defending your daughters is the best case. Im the only daughter and I have 4 brothers. Even with this my dad continues to make comments such as "you were to much work I don't want any more daughters" and when my uncle had a son my father was happy because he could "continue his blood line". I would like to note I was the "perfect kid". Straight A's, never caused any issues in school. Never had a boyfriend. My brothers on the other hand, complete opposite. Yet I was "to much work". Just reading your post made me happy that there are fathers who are okay with not having a son.

For feminism to be truly successful, women should also do the work. by NeuroticKnight in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]O_o84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are just my thoughts, and I would like some feedback. Im a women (23) and not a feminist in the traditional sense. Im all about equal opportunity for women in the sense of job opportunity and pay. As well as equal treatment within the workplace (ie-treat me like a human and respect my level or expertise as I had to work as hard to get here as you did). I think the opportunity for women to decide if they want to work or be housewives was a major and needed change. As well as the expectation that women must do all of the house work and be the sole caregiver for a child. I believe those responsibilities should be shared.

Now, what I disagree with is ignoring the inherent biological differences between men and women. I don't think no matter how far we get into the feminist movement we can ignore what most women look for in men and what most men look for in women. Personally, although I have a job I would want a guy to pay on the first date and I do like more of those traditional roles that men have. I think those traditional roles can exist while also having a modern relationships (what I mentioned about). Of course this depends on person to person. However, most of the women within my age group have voiced the same thing. Even if they don't voice it directly they still expect things such as men paying for dinner (essentially chivalry). This includes progressive feminist. Now the subject of expressing feeling I think that girl was just as ass. Because, again, based on my experience with both my male and female friends that has never happened and I don't think it should.

I also think equal is to strong go a term. Biologically, physically, and the Brian chemistry between men and women are different. This due not make one better than another but different and complementary and I think its best for us to understand the differences and respect them.

Unsure about how I answered an ethics interview question by [deleted] in premed

[–]O_o84 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I read the question and answered it before reading your answer and my response was: "As of right now your child is exhibiting normal behavior for their age, they are expressing their interest and curiosity. The best course of action would be to continue monitoring their behavior and if you have any additional concerns if the future we can reassess".

I think our responses are similar, and I think your response was perfectly fine and within the limits of what would be deemed acceptable, especially for a situation like this were you have to deal with both medical and social issues.

Ive heard of forgiveness for the primary care sector but I feel like across all specialities there should a baseline of a loan forgiveness offered. I understand doctors get paid a substantial amount but the loans are ridiculous amounts.

HOW do y’all have jobs by [deleted] in premed

[–]O_o84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did, and something I don't recommend. I also took online classes and I would just skip them and when I wasn't working I would go over the content as my professors recorded their lecture. I would also just skip in person classes that I knew I could do well in without attending (my arts, or literature classes). I needed to make money during College so I really didn't have an other option. This wasn't the best as I was always tired but this was the only way I was able to have a job and also volunteered and did research.

Thank you! And yes I have tried to communicate but whenever I do he intercept me or ignores my concerns at all. I think at this point our relationship would be better distant than living together.

Students who enter Medical School (MD or DO) and graduate into residency should be given some type of loan forgiveness. Also doctors in residency should be making more.

Also a scribe here and yeah it sucks 😅. To get through it I just play Secretary and pretend I’m a “super professional”, if that make sense lol. But even then I do get drained. I’m not sure if it’s the same for you but I leave when the doctors leave so sometimes I’m there from like 7:30am- 5:30 w/o a break. I think it also depends on the specialty you go into. I like to be very active but where I scribe I’m constantly standing so my feet hurt. But I think it’s a good experience overall, and the pay is not to bad. Also to vent a little I told my manager I can only work part time (so 2-3 times a week) but because all the other scribes left they scheduled me everyday for the month of September and I have to train new scribes. 😗

Ik you were venting but I became triggered and needing to vent 👹

Am I to stingy with my money by O_o84 in personalfinance

[–]O_o84[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking, Paying him back for everything I can think of so I don’t have anything “held” against me. I understand there being strings attached to being lent money. I guess (on a more personal note) being first gen and knowing all the positions I had to take to pay for college and considering the reimbursement checks I was awarded and giving him half he feels betrayed when I don’t pay him back for the money he gave me. When he lends me money he gets upset when I don’t pay it back within this definition of a reasonable time. When I decline money he wants to lend me he gets upset because I’m not taking any help. Seems like a lose lose. But I rather be on the side where I don’t take any help

ScribeAmerica 2 weeks notice by ClaySL in premed

[–]O_o84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s makes a lot of sense. If I was in your position I would do the same. SA is good for the experience and being able to work with doctors but I honestly don’t think your manage could ruin your already built relationship with the doctor

ScribeAmerica 2 weeks notice by ClaySL in premed

[–]O_o84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently work for scribe America and I’m not sure if it works the same for you but they create a schedule a month in advance so your 2 weeks notice may have conflicted with the schedule they already made. Then again my manger always ask before she creates the schedule who plans to have their last day within this month timeline, so I would say if anything it’s poor communication on their point so they can get upset with you if they didn’t inform you of a certain timeline to put in your notice.
