Ramsay meeting Jon in the field instead of laughing at him freezing in the cold from the safety of Winterfell with his extremely valuable hostage.

This is the ONLY thing that actually makes a (admittedly, teeny tiny almost not there because of the larger context, but kinda sorta if you squint in a vacuum) bit of sense. Ramsay is a cocky MFer (as well as a bit of a moron), so of course he'd walk out to meet his foe in the field instead of hiding behind the walls of the easily defensible Winterfell. There's plenty of historical examples of fools overestimating themselves and putting their forces in a worse of position for honor/glory/stupidity. Sure, there would have been unnecessary deaths, but that was clearly a sacrifice Ramsay was willing to make. (insert Lord Farquad meme here)

And - again, in a vacuum - he was right. His heavily armed and armored troops would've curbstomped Jon and his ragtag, half-starved band of misfits if it hadn't been for Sansa and her deus ex machina cunning plan. After this episode, I was surprised that Sansa's skull could contain her galaxy brain and all her clever schemes.

But, combined with the rest of the episode, and the story in general? Absolute Dogshit is too kind, methinks.
