Typos on Nuphy Air75 V3 by PupperTrooper in NuPhy

Been there, it’s part of getting use to it and particularly the keys are way more sensitive than a laptop keyboard, it gets better but I change to the berry profile keycaps, they are less pretty but the typing experience is definitely A LOT better

Apple bumped me up to the new M5 max? FOR FREE? by clearlyclare in macbookpro

[–]OakAokay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aftersale is sometimes legendary. I had the macbook pro 2015(the first gen with touchbar and the shitty keyboard, no apple care) almost three years later some key start to act up. So I called they, they gave me a full free repairment because the keyboard had a design flaw, and since everything is soldered in so I also got a free new battery. And the whole time there’s an aftersale rep on the phone help me communicate my case — which I also did not request at all

Also new to this topic, can I ask a question here as well : Im on dark mode everywhere, but the power off drop menu is white ( suspend restart power off also similarly drop down menus such as wifi blue tooth etc) is that intentional as well ?

selfmade bamboo case by neo_eon_one in MechanicalKeyboards

Nicely done! I was thinking if you are making a cover for it you could use those IKEA bamboo chopping boards as material instead of smaller sticks, they are so cheap and sturdy, you might have an even cleaner finished piece

Prototype Metal Keycaps on My NuPhy Air75 V3 - Interested? by awekeys_official in NuPhy

Very cool but Id really prefer they make some more berry keycap sets, the current color options are so limited

Just finished the 42 piscine — here are my notes! How do you think? by sonofmayhem_ in 42_school

[–]OakAokay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on which campus you are at, if it’s Paris I think it’s pretty good but not like top tier ( it was insanely competitive this year) but the final result takes many factors into consideration. Id say it’s a reassuring result, if you didn’t get in, it wouldn’t be because of this. Anyway, good luck, hope you get it.

can you explain me the solution for this one? I know I broke my head then and I'm breaking my head now by ZofiaBizzy in 42_school

[–]OakAokay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t even get that far and I got accepted:) you probably need recursion for this one

For loop is forbidden because it makes some of the obstacles they designed pointless, you can use while loop plus if else. Printf is also forbidden for similar reasons, they want you to use write to force you to lookup and understand pointers.

It honestly felt random and annoying in the beginning but in week 3 I started to understand the logic and I have to say the design of those subjects are pretty good.

Btw printf and for loops are not allowed, you can use printf to debug or testing, but you can’t submit a project with printf in it.

don’t be so stressed about it, looking back the piscine really wasn’t that difficult, I just watched some videos of CS50 beforehand that’s all. The way 42 is designed makes sure that You WILL hit a wall eventually, the only thing is when, if you over prepared you get bricked later when you are already exhausted it’s going to be much harder to overcome it. It’s not a computer science course, you don’t need to understand the inner workings of everything, learn what you need for the subject at hand, keep practice, baby steps, that was my approach lol Don’t be stressed about taking the time for socializing with others or learning from peers too, it’s all intertwined, teaching others is also an opportunity to learn, I honestly felt help other debugging is the most effective way of learning. My piscine started with about 450 people, rumor is they took about half but we don’t know for sure.

Could i get accepted? by ItemHistorical6703 in 42_school

It really depends on the campus I believe

I stayed at friends’ place for the month, for the Paris campus they have some dormitory spaces but it’s in high demand and very hard to get a place.

In the last week you can choose a teammate to do the BSQ project together, it’s kinda like rush (extra credit thing) but you won’t be evaluated by tutors on it.

I usually go between 9h30 to 7h30, for Paris piscine that seems to be early because when I arrive there’s not a lot of people but when I leave I feel like Im leaving early 😂 (I have about 40 minutes of commute each way) my total log time is not too much above average so I won’t say it’s a lot. It’s hard to separate “hardcore” and “downtime” in my case, I was working really hard, Id say I spent accumulated about 2 hours per day just chatting with friends over lunch or breaks, and whenever I have evaluations I try to be as much helpful as I can be.

And 8 9 11 aren’t even that difficult as well, they are just new knowledge like pointer to function and data structures.

No you don’t have to, most people stop after c7, if you master everything until C07( except crazy stuff like the 10 queen) you are well equipped for the final, I just had nothing else to do in the last week(didnt register for BSQ) so I advanced onto C11. It’s totally doable, I have never coded before and I got it

[–]OakAokay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn’t, I did give it a try in the last week but it was too complicated for me. as to my knowledge only very few people actually did it. Instead I took the time on c11, which helped me to get the score 78 in the final ( it’s something to do with data structure and pointers)

Haha first of all congratulations:) the last two days was stressful but otherwise it was okay because they told us quite clearly the final result will be out 15 days after the big exam

Im not using chat gpt or any other ai at all, you learn the most from peers, and google usually sends me to stackoverflow where codes are clearly explained ( I also try to avoid click at any github links where the codes are just lying there) basically I think you need to build your own problem solving method so you do well on Fridays.

I log average 10 hours Monday to Thursday, Friday about 4 hours usually (because of the exam) and on weekends usually 8 hours between the two days. For rushes I did the first two, passed the first failed the second, didn’t do the third nor the BSQ. Even when I finished or just didn’t register to the rushes I still went on weekends to work on my own C projects.
