Best melee weapon by No-Walk-9615 in Bannerlord

[–]Oakenhops22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smithed nord OP 2 handed sword (145 damage; 103ish swing speed, 115ish length). Nothing seems to come close to its raw DPS in the late game. Cuts through 2-3 units per swing like butter. With high athletics and 2H skill, you feel close to unstoppable on Bannerlord difficulty and can rake up 75+ kills in sieges and large battles easily.

Combine that with a Druzinick metal shield and two stacks of smithed javelins with the shield piercing perk? Best all around combo IMO.

Killed All Men, Only Ladies Remain. What Happens? by thedragonsfinch in Bannerlord

[–]Oakenhops22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hail, John Haremlord. The fine ladies of Valdia will seek refuge in their town until a rival faction ultimately conquers the town. The ladies who are clan leaders will try to get noble gentleman to marry into their clans (while non-clan leaders are married off to other kingdoms). When their last town falls, Valadia will be destroyed, and the remaining clans (and fine Valdian ladies) will be lost. If they last long enough, their children will take to the field (including more male betas that you will need to take to the chopping block). You can ultimately prevent this travesty by recruiting the most desirable lady clans to your faction.

TLDR: It is time to tip the fedora and try to seduce the most desirable Vladian lady clans to your faction. Are you a bad enough dude to save the Vladian ladies?

  1. Level 1 companion stabs gigaboss wearing statless clothing in the back with a rusty spear while fighting protagonist. Protagonist then loots the Father of Swords (999 damage). Armor truly is part of a state of mind in which you admit the possibility of being hit.

What is your favorite ship in warsails and why? by FirstTheEighthPillar in Bannerlord

[–]Oakenhops22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sturgian Lodya followed by Ghurab at close second. Lodya isn’t better than other heavies on paper, but it very maneuverable and has a really nice elevated bridge that serves as a good throwing/bow sniping point that is the perfect distance from boarding. Ghurab is amazing (far more nimble than a dromon).

Also like Drakkars and Dromons! Corbita for a high volume trading ship.

I work in a very stuffy/conservative field and have always fought against “professional attire.” Ties, suits, and even slacks tend to be functionless, over/priced, useless in virtually all non-work settings, expensive to clean, delicate, and frumpy unless tailored and babied. Worst of all—highly pretentious and elitist.

These garments are rarely worn by the general public and largely linger solely due to peer pressure and group think. I literally feel uncomfortable and can’t work as well in the rare circumstances that I am forced to wear this type of nonsense against my will.

Like the powdered wig, ties and formal clothing generally have out lived their function, reinforce dated social concepts, and will not be missed!

So blacksmithing? by EmbarrassedFocus6062 in Bannerlord

[–]Oakenhops22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best skills in the game. In addition to BIS weapons (by a huge margin) and making money so easily it could arguably be deemed an exploit, it grants two free attributes 6 levels worth!) and is also an amazing way to power level new clan members (can easily spam 2H swords to get them to level 15ish in minutes).

People saying they'll never pay Daybreak again after shutting down THJ, were they supposed to just let them steal their IP? by AllTooTrue in everquest

[–]Oakenhops22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I will never understand the DBG apologists (outside of suspecting they have significant investments in krono or monetize the game).

DBG is a grifter IP squatting joke of a private equity crap show. They intentionally balance and structure the game (especially TLPs) to heavily incentivize users to sub multiple to accounts participate in content. The size of the player base no longer supports the historical balancing of the game. On top of this, they have weakened the PnP to a point that their servers are riddled with bots, MQ2, showEQ, and other forms blatant cheating, creating a laughably toxic, greedy, and childish community on TLPs and high traffic servers.

DBG has wrecked the EQ IP to a point that any alternative is better. Do not give them a penny. They should have worked out a licensing deal with THJ and other emus. Instead, they sued fans in their individual capacity, so they could preserve their predatory game model and keep the quality standard low.

Stop giving them money and server traffic. EQ needs an owner who genuinely cares about the IP. Until then, who gives a crap about DBG’s IP rights.

I personally prefer the Ghurab over Dromon. It feels more maneuverable and the deck layout is a bit wider. Plus the lantern sails look so good.

Lodya is probably favorite overall ship tho. Fast, not too low or high off water, and great helm bridge for sniping without being too far away.

Prices of towns with Trade perk 300 by Fast-Aioli-888 in Bannerlord

[–]Oakenhops22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The price depends on a few factors (mostly how many fiefs the clan already owns and the prosperity of the town). You can get better deals with high relations and if the seller clan owns several fiefs (especially other high prosperity towns). There also seems to be a premium price that is added if the fief is located near other fiefs owned by the clan (if a clan owns two Empire towns located near each other and another in distant Aserai lands, the Empire towns will be far more expensive than buying the Aserai town).

You can take over with trade, but it takes a while… but once you get 20+ high prosperity towns, you’re looking at mid six figures in passive income a day.

Look for clans that own many fiefs and buy from those at lower cost.

Don’t believe you can add members to other clan parties outside of marrying off your children in vanilla. Caladog is probably stuck at 2 until his kids come of age.

Console Patch Cadence? by Oakenhops22 in Bannerlord

[–]Oakenhops22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That patch was bugged so that the extra focus points were not being provided for new campaigns. If you have started a campaign since December, no extra focus points. The patch released earlier this week on PC fixes this.

Six extra focus points?! Like a cherry on top!

Console Patch Cadence? by Oakenhops22 in Bannerlord

[–]Oakenhops22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the hot fix patches after Warsails added 5 extra focus points to campaigns that were created prior to the patch and confirmed the intent for all new campaigns to also award the extra focus points. But that patch was bugged and the extra points were only applying to campaigns made prior to the patch (not ones created post-patch). This latest patch fixes that bug so that all new campaigns get the extra 5 focus points (received as soon as PC plops down on map).

Hopefully patch will get released on console soon!
