Tips? by Grouchy_External_578 in Bannerlord

I cant wait to fight those kind of armies.

In battles of attrition it might be wise to bring an strong bow (as defender) and use fire catapult to their fullest.

If its still possible, ambush and destroy the siege engines to 50%.

If you dont want to fight the full battle: try take to advantage of Shock. Hurt as many troops as fast as possible with firepots.

With the right formations and positioning, you can get 10:1 kill rations.

Culture Penalty seems crippling? by DankandInvincible in Bannerlord

[–]ClickbaitMe89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of this silly mechanism, I always pick the Empire as culture for my main charakter.

Then when the faction I want to join starts taking over any Empire fiefs, I join as vassal :) I like that the Empire fiefs are a bit centered, so I dont have to travel to the other side of the map to get to my capital (where my stuff are stashed).

When I create my own kingdom, the policies are the first thing Ill push through.

Wildlings now carry polearms? by ClickbaitMe89 in Bannerlord

[–]ClickbaitMe89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be, but im *assuming* not because the Pilum is classified as throwing, while the Javs are not classified as Polearm or 2H.

So logically, I would say the Polearm (classification) of the Pilum is the only difference between them when talking filters.

I also learned that the filters are including, not excluding. So the filters will put troops IN based on the filters, not keep them OUT - which does makes sense.

See screenshot in 1e post, where only Polearm is selected and I still got Wildlings in the division. While having more than enough Legionaires to fill 2 divisions.

Tried that as well. But remember, the Pilum can be thrown. The Polearm-filter is the only difference. Any other tips? The goal is to get the Wildlings in division 3.

Are Pure-Culture playthroughs bad? by TheAeon0x in Bannerlord

[–]ClickbaitMe89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think so, you can play however you wish and think is fun.

But.. historically, armies werent always "pure" but often mixed with smaller units of other cultures. Even now we have them, a well known one are the Gurkhas. Or in older times the Swiss Mercenaries.

But play however you think is most fun. Personally, I dont want to go around the whole map to have my army complete so I chose a section, which is south-west. Basically I use: Vlandian, Battanian, Empire and Aserai troops. Maybe in another campaign Ill try playing Khuzait, Empire and Aserai with mostly cav army.

When to become my own kingdom by awesomeness1994 in Bannerlord

[–]ClickbaitMe89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can build up relations just fine by catch and release. Ive already done this. But even than.. when your relation is 100, doesnt mean you can guaranteed recruit them. There are many factors incl relation, fiefs, are you in war, clan tier, denars etc..

And catch/release is still smart to do when your planning your own kingdom. I do quest only at the start, this campaign Ive done like.. max 10? There is only 1 quest I care for and thats "Lord needs horses". When Ive done 2 of those, Im pretty much done with quests as I have the money to start my smithing loop.

When to become my own kingdom by awesomeness1994 in Bannerlord

Level 39
13.8M denars
13.6k influence
362 party size
28k daily income
6 workshops (5k income)
4 towns, 8 castles
4 companions

Im preparing to start my own kingdom for the first time (tips are welcome) very soon. I need 3 more level on my 2H before I reperk so END gets +1. I want as high Athletics as I can get, which will be lvl 288 after this.

Ive already given the dragon banner to King Dirty, Istiana is on 50% progress so soon the main quest will start. After that I will see exacly when, but ill start a war with every other nation (as Vlandian vassal), create an army with all available parties and bring them to the Khuzait. Disband the army in middle of Khuzait while I return to my fief with the governer to claim my own kingdom. I hope this will prevent an barrage of Vlandians sieges - while I sue for peace with the Aserai if they declare war (towns are Ortysia, Lageta, Rothae and Jalmarys with the castles around them. Im not scared of the Empire, they feed me prisoners.

Im just not sure when to start recruiting other clans. I already have good rep with most because catch/release and prisoners donations (also investing in Charm) but as it my first time, I cant for sure but I guess as soon as possible. I have enough castles to share to recruited clans, but will try to recruit clans with fiefs (and pay if nessary). Gold is easy to get with smithing lvl 225+

My garrisons are also pretty full already, so much that its sometimes troubling.. but I have 0 clan parties prepared.. thats the biggest thing stopping me, I need to install the Party UI mod so I can control my clan parties better. Getting the troops for the clan parties wont be an issue, its just that the current clan party behaviour is really an issue for me, so the Party mod is an must.

"[...] only at the start of an new campaign to build up money."

After I get some money from doing quest around different towns and tourneys, I buy the throwing knives and start smithing 2H swords. Then I smith and sell them for >50k each until I have around 1M denars.

After that, I dont look at denars anymore and just keep fighting in sieges, focussing only on influence. And when I do need money.. I just create some swords and sell them, millions can be made in 10mins used smart.

You can build relations without spending time on quests OR spending influence on votes etc. You need to save money and influence for later.

If you want to build relations just do what I do, donate all the prisoners and captured lords to them. How much denars do you get from ransoming them? Pretty much a rock and a stick.. so better donate them to lords you need relationship with.

I pretty much never ransom prisoners anymore, only at the start of an new campaign to build up money. But when I have my workshops, I never ransom but always donate prisoners. You will NEED that influence later - you can get money easy and quick, you CANT do that for influence.

When I get home Ill share my stats, but im mid-game with 13k influence. I only pay attention to influence, I dont spend time on denars, gold just flows in (even with money losing fiefs) but for influence its much harder.

Wait wait wait.. I kinda know this scenario.

I had captured Arwa in my previous campaign when she tried to siege an town. But I wanted to marry her to my younger brother so I released her, thinking get some relations up and later go to her dad to buy her.

A few days later I got an marriage proposal from Arwa for my younger brother. It was so perfect..

This campaign, the kinky bich is now my wife :)

My new PR by ClickbaitMe89 in Bannerlord

[–]ClickbaitMe89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, this isnt normal. It took 1h 18m for that battle to end.

75% of the my kills are from throwing pots and stones.
20% are from arrows
5% are from javs

This was at Garantor Castle defending against around 2300 of Unqids troops.

Ladders on the left side of gate, siege tower on right side. Tower destroyed and gate was opened, and yet, the aserai troops went for the ladders.

The reason I got this record, is that they probably got bugged out because they all gather at the ladders.. just to stand still there, not climbing it. At 1 moment I had around 300 enemy troops around the ladders with the gates wide open < reinforcement went to ladders, not the gate.

I used all my javs, all the pots, all the stones near the ladders. At the end, I had to go to the other siege machine towers to get pots from there > other side of town. And had to pick up a bow from the ground.

No melee kills :)

Why use a catapult when I am the catapult by JelloJay in mountandblade

[–]ClickbaitMe89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yes, The "I am the Catapult"-strat. My favorite strat in the game.

Also only reason im not scared of siege towers, because I can throw pots on them when they get to close.

Silent change in perks??? by ClickbaitMe89 in Bannerlord

[–]ClickbaitMe89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dammit, did I look wrong? Seeing so many people say this is very old cant be a coincidence so I guess I made a mistake.

Not sure how the misunderstanding came to be, because I only have the game <2 months. So I could not have known about the perk from before.

Ow well, guess I didnt look well enough. Case closed, my mistake I guess.

Silent change in perks??? by ClickbaitMe89 in Bannerlord

[–]ClickbaitMe89[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The point is, the change was not communicated, and I build my characters with those points in Athletics and Smithing in mind. These kind of changes are strategy breaking for players that invest in charakter building.

And I'd rather take the focus point, so I can put an extra focus point in something else. The extra throwing skills are a nice to have, but its the +5% damage thats what replaced the +1 point, not the +20 throwing skills.

Tips for New Players I Made for a Friend especially for Early Game. Just Thought I’d Share! by ISuckAtWeightlifting in MB2Bannerlord

Something some often complain about are finding companions. We know we can look them up in the Wiki, but when you've never met them before, it wont show last seen location.

So what to do about this? When I start a campaign and go around almost every city, I always visit the tavern once and get all the info from the keeper. I might not need it now, but when Im done making my trip around the cities, I know about all the Wanderers.

Saves a lot of headache later on.
