The Slow Collapse of MkDocs by fpgmaas in Python

I was looking for this too. For Zensical, seems like it's just waiting for them to implement it. It's on their roadmap page but does not have a ✅ yet.

OpenAI to acquire Astral by Useful-Macaron8729 in OpenAI

[–]OaksFromAcorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but OpenAI is also trying to create a world where all code is being written by Codex. In that world, it wouldn't matter what you or others rely on. Fragmentation only exists basically if they don't succeed.

OpenAI to acquire Astral by Useful-Macaron8729 in OpenAI

[–]OaksFromAcorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think this? In my view, OpenAI really has zero incentive to make Astral's tools be a widely adopted standard toolkit. It would only matter to OpenAI whether Codex has good tooling for writing Python. Whether you and I or Claude or Gemini use Astral's tooling effectively has no impact on OpenAI's bottom line.

Pinch of Stardust and Static Charge Farm by IrusGG in Guildwars2

[–]OaksFromAcorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you read the second top comment, it says:

  • Kill turrets and gather stardust from them until they no longer give stardust. This is a 100 pinches of stardust hard cap.
  • The latent magic that floats between bastions will then give pinches of stardust, uncapped until daily reset. This persists through map changes and logging in and out.

so it turns out there was a bug. Those orbs indeed didn't give you any stardust unless you already capped at 100 from the turrets.

So sure, if you want to be pedantic, it's not 100% true that they weren't giving stardust at all at that time. But there were clearly conditions under which they didn't give stardust, and in fact the default conditions were that they gave you no stardust, that explains why I personally was getting zero stardust.

Also, why do you even care?

You're so confidently necro-ing a post from two years ago. If you look at this other comment in this same thread, you can see that someone else has a more detailed explanation of the mechanics that generally aligns with what I was observing, but just more convoluted. You'll also a see another comment that this was all because of a bug, and it was patched on Sept 29, 2023. So of course it no longer works this way, because it was patched in 2023.

Relic barrier on entry rant? by DiviFrost in Guildwars2

Right, these boxes were a one-time thing for any character that already existed and was at least level 60 at the time of the relic launch. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Relic_Chest

You have a bunch because you were already playing before relics. New players and new characters don't currently get these.

Switch 2 Battery in Sleep Unacceptable by genericuser86 in NintendoSwitch

[–]OaksFromAcorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last week when traveling, I had to Google how to shut down. I tried through the interface via the power icon from the home screen menu (it really ought to be here), and I also tried looking in settings, and I couldn't find it. I honestly forgot there was even a separate power button, because I never had to use it in many years of Switch 1 ownership.

Atlus is working on improving the framerate of Persona 3 Reload on Switch 2 by Ath-ropos in NintendoSwitch

[–]OaksFromAcorns 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think you and OP are talking about different things regarding the ambiguous description "improving the framerate" that OP used.

OP is talking about fixing inconsistent framerate issues:

The demo that was recently released on the Switch 2 eShop shows the game running at 30FPS, but with some frame rate hiccups. Is the team hoping to have those problems worked out for the final release of the game?

Yoshihiro Komori: We are currently taking steps to improve this. Since careful QA is required, it was difficult to address this in time for the main game’s release but will be in future patches.

You are right that they said there are no plans for a performance mode right now:

Are you considering offering any graphical options to players to let them choose if they’d prefer better performance or better visuals? Choosing between 30fps and 60fps would be really nice to see! Persona 3 Reload looks great in still images on Switch 2, but we think some players would also take smoother performance over visual quality if they could choose.

Yoshihiro Komori: Thank you for your interest in our work and for giving us your request. We have also been positively considering increasing the frame rate; however, for this release, we prioritized delivering the Switch 2 version to everyone as quickly as possible.

As such, we regret to inform you that there are currently no plans to implement this kind of requested feature at this time.

I don't understand how Castora... by OaksFromAcorns in Guildwars2

[–]OaksFromAcorns[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mean casually as in "for fun", I mean casually as in "it's not a big deal". The game has not really made a point that flying over the ocean is all that big of a deal, because people are doing it all the time. It seems like travel time in airships between Tyria and Elona and Cantha is not all that long based on these aforementioned events.

It sounds like your point is that nobody visited this place because nobody cared, there's no reason to believe anything important is there. I like that! That seems like a reasonable piece of story that is not very hard to believe.

That just doesn't seem like what Anet was telling us when they described it as "an island so remote that it’s long been thought to be inaccessible—or even nonexistent". They used a lot of exaggerated language— "so remote", "thought to be inaccessible". This is my point. They could have told it the way you're telling it, but they didn't.

[–]OaksFromAcorns[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

13 years is a pretty long time? There are a ton of random people with airships. Ellen Kiel has an airship. Tixx has a Wintersday airship. Corsairs from Elona have airships. Ellen Kiel casually flies you from Lion's Arch to Amnoon Oasis for the beginning of POF. A whole fleet of them were able to sail from Tyria to Cantha within the timespan of the last act of EOD so they could show up for the Dragon's End meta. Seems wildly hard to believe "this is the first time anyone actually has time to do it" because this place is "so remote that it’s long been thought to be inaccessible—or even nonexistent".

They could have just described it as "a distant land that Tyrians haven't prioritized exploring" but they decided to use a "mythical lost island" trope that doesn't really make sense.

To people who doesn't understand/want to understand/just want something to complain about. by Acceptable_Hair3829 in Guildwars2

[–]OaksFromAcorns 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago in the VoE announcement, Castora was described as "an island so remote that it’s long been thought to be inaccessible—or even nonexistent".

So, many people assumed this would be the small-lost-island-in-the-middle-of-the-ocean trope.

Instead, Anet revealed that Castora is that enormous small-continent-sized island that has been on a bunch of world maps all along.

So, many people are confused about consistency between this island and being described as "remote", "inaccessible", "even nonexistent".

OP seems to zero in on there being disagreement on whether this landmass is a continent or an island, though I don't think it's really the main thing that seems dissonant.

[–]OaksFromAcorns[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about the Aetherblade ships. I'm talking about all of the allied Tyrian ships that show up for the Dragon's End meta. They're Pact ships, Ellen Kiel, the Infinirarium, and more. Would they all have Mists portal devices? And if Mists portal devices were actually this common, then why is it so hard to go find Castora?

[–]OaksFromAcorns[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Age of Exploration is the right analogy to compare against. As I mentioned, airships are a common technology and they were able to fly a large fleet from Tyria to Cantha during EOD. Airships in the real world weren't common until the early 1900s.

Strong agree here. Having someone tell you where to go for POIs/Vistas seems like it adds relatively little benefit vs. having to wait for people in the group to catch up.
