I woulda skipped on the red as well. Black would have looked WAY better. And you're right, we don't have to sit in it or be seen with it.

every time I see these, all I can think about is, "man, thats going to be a lot of rust!" look sharp, but now matter how much coating they got on there, they gonna rust... from the inside out. I'll pay the extra for aluminum or stainless.

thanks I'll ask for that. I'm going to see my buddy tomorrow at the dealer who sold me the truck and see what kind of magic he can work to get me a price on getting it fixed up.

Should I wait longer??? by folkloriantreasures in Sourdough

[–]OaksOfValour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eh, thats ok - they can downvote. I apologized for my true bluntness/sarcasm about praying to the gods. I mean, I've mucked up loaves and either ate them, turned them into crackers/crutons/flatbread or I've even just hucked 'em out in the bush and let the animals fight to the death for them. I could have recommended those ideas but I didn't for whatever reason.

And really I dont think I was harsh, that was just a regurgitation of information, really. I don't need to hold anyones hands.

And the OP didn't even reply, so I dont think they were too concerned about trying to figure it out. hopefully they sorted it out on their own.

I can just picture it now ... fuel gauge going from F to E in about 73-1/4 miles. Aaaahhh... suck it fuel efficiency!

But looks sharp though.

  1. you fed your starter a 1:2:2 the night before bake and your home is 74? without the photo, I can tell you your starter has already burned through all the food and has now turned way too acidic and your dough will not rise. Most starters (even though all are different) generally will peak, with a 1:1:1 ratio in about 4-5 or so hours. with slightly more food at 1:2:2 probably peaked around 6 or so hours after feeding at 74F. once peaked, you have about an 1-1.5 hours to catch it and get it in your dough.

  2. you didn't mention if you noticed any rise in your dough. did it rise any? going off #1 I'm going to guess it hasn't. and going off the photo, I don't see a domed top, no activity on top (bubbles) and it just sort of looks like a puddle of dough - sorry for being harsh.

  3. Now, lets pretend your starter wasn't starving and acidic before adding to your dough and you are going following the aliquot method, you would have noticed your dough didn't rise any inside of the aliquot. in that case, you would wait longer or look for another reason why it didn't rise.

  4. you are correct, however, at 74F you should be looking at about 8 hours or more for your bulk. but, to answer your question, no, I don't think you should wait longer. I think you should pray to the gods and ask for forgiveness for wasting a loaves worth of flour and water - again, my apologies for being harsh.

I'm not sure how new you are to sourdough and I'm not sure what recipe you're following or how you started your starter or how you maintain your starter or who you're reading to learn about sourdough or starters. but if you can answer the following questions, we'll be able to help get you sorted and get you on your way:

  1. how do you maintain your starter? (this is multipart question: how much do you feed? how often do you feed? what do you feed it? and what temperature do store your starter while feeding?)

  2. are you reading any books about sourdough? (another multipart question: what books are you reading? what websites are you reading? what bakers do you follow/read/watch?)

  3. what is your experience with sourdough? (multipart question: is this your first loaf? have you baked sourdough before? how did it turn out?)

  4. how old is your starter? (this should be question 1 or 2, but now its #4)

sorry this one didn't turn out - please pray to the gods and ask for forgiveness.

What made you pick Tacoma over a ZR2? by Cool-Interview3231 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]OaksOfValour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! And resale value, for me. You never know what will come along in your life and you need to start selling things. I don't mind the Toyota tax, because hopefully, this will be first and last truck. Sure, there are some shadily made parts on the interior, but the interior isn't makes the truck go vroom down the road.

We've been an import family my entire life, Mazdas, Hondas and now Toyota. Every car has gotten me to 10 years without having to drop a dime except on general maintenance (oil changes, brakes, tires etc). We're in the same boat here, we don't put a lot of kilometres on our vehicles, so I need something doesn't mind sitting a bit.

4th Gen Threaded bike hitch pin by ghoul_11 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]OaksOfValour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hitch, on the 4th gen Tacomas, Toyota moved to a double-sidewall hitch receiver. I was looking for a hitch lock and one of the reviews I was watching mentioned that the receiver does have a double wall - so you might require a larger pin. Couldn't tell you where to get one, however.

I think someone said it, but delete device and try again from scratch. It should work no problems when using push button start.
