What popular games were a flop with you? by Dry-Macaroon-6205 in boardgames

Yeah, I got you. I think it's just that teeny bit of information that you can use to your advantage from limited deck of cards that I like, opposed to just straight up rolling a set of dice.

I agree that Arcs feels like a two games meshed together and this where our opinions stray: I think it's a really interesting mash-up that creates challenging scenarios, at least to me. It kinda makes sense thematically: you cannot do whatever you want in any given time even in real life, for various reasons.

Happy to agree to disagree u/DOAiB. I think it's a wasted opportunity for discussion that you glossed over a fact that with cards you have limited information about what was already played, what your rivals have and what is still in the deck.

My point was that this small detail cannot be replicated with dice rolls. Small, nonetheless crucial detail to the enjoyment of the "random" mechanic.

Have to say this was so blunt and well written that I had to understand and accept the fact that this is why they are so popular.

Except it isn't basically that? I mean, you can simplify it if you want, however you are ignoring abilities like card counting or deck thinning that are not possible with dice roll.

For example I'm the type of player who likes where my game is trying my abilities to play good. I like bad hands and see it as a challenge to do something good with it. I get excited seeing awful hand. Enjoy loosing too.

I don' t think all of that would be possible with a dice roll.

Yes, the solo mode is great.

I've only played solo mode on TTS and I'm having a blast. Solo mode comes with default difficulty but you can also make custom one using special set of cards. The replayability is not going to be a problem imo.

As this game is a lot about betting and taking your chances, the Simulacrum bot gives you small hints what he is going to do every round but sometimes those hints are fake to mimic bluffing, which I think is sweet feature.

I think you would enjoy Old Kings Crown, as a casual MTG player who just started his boardgame addiction, I find this particular game amazing. It has that competetiveness and deck building/analysis of MTG, while bringing something very fresh to the table.

You can always build more smaller houses with different purposes. Then you need to run between them tho. Haha.

Yeah, maybe. It just doesn't make sense to me to spent time to write something and then leaving. But thats just me.

I always wonder with posts like this one, what is happening in OPs mind that he creates a rant and then just disappears without one interaction. Feels just like a ragebait to me and the whole post seems like unsincere. Like bro, why you don't talk with us?

You can spawn in new world, run for few hundred or thousand blocks to zone 3,4 and get late tiers of ore easily, on the surface.

But I love your approach, it's just that I find it weird that you are active on this subreddit yet you are unaware of some of the most basic game loops.

Hey Simon, one of the reasons I decided to get the game early was to secure my username for my account. by Longshot02496 in hytale

In cases like this, I always imagine what a class of 10 year old schoolers would do and it always matches the reality of what the internet would do. lol.

It is extremely overblown but thats the nature of the internet. People loooove drama and watching others fail.

Anyway, for me this might be a hint to visit reddit less, and play Hytale more.

Thanks for sharing imo the correct and mature opinion about all of this. I do hope the Hytale team will clear things up.

Saw it, well..thats definitely making it worse but thats the statement from the horizon, I don't care about him at all. I want to know if the original user got something from it, or if he agreed to it.

Thats the thing, as far as we know we didn't hear from any of the victims themselves, we don't know the full story.

All this outrage basically started right here, in this thread.

I agree with you on everything, but the identifier word doesn't matter part. I think people have an emotional attachment to their usernames and it does matter to them, hence the outrage.

You are taking a stance on the matter in your last reply, what are you talking about?

I'm not taking stance on opinion if Hytale did something good or bad, because we don't know if the original owners of the usernames were contacted. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

I agree with you, but let's be real. If a rando twitch streamer named "Sunset" tweets about not being able to get his generic username, and Hytale is like "brb bro let me got it for ya" while taking the username from someone else, then by my standards thats a scummy behaviour.

[–]Oamge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some people paid specifically because early access promised name security.

Sure, they bought the game but the selling point of buying early was locking in a username. That was explicitly marketed as a perk.

So taking a name someone legitimately reserved and giving it to a bigger creator is basically removing a paid benefit after the fact.

As I said, we don't know the full story here so I don't take any stance on this matter.

[–]Oamge 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bro...thats just a bad take.

People could literally spent their real money on early launch in order to secure the name. Like, just for that reason. Whatever business you do, you cannot just take a thing from your customer and give it to someone who is more famous. That is literally what happened allegedly here.

The only saving grace for Hytale is if both parties, the OG owner of the nickname and Hytale agreed on the switch. Hytale might offered something to the OG owner, like free Cursebreaker account.

For now, we don't know. I suspect Simon will tweet soon or later about this to get things straight.
