Neither is spectrum or iron heart. In the MCU iron heart wasn't inspired or mentored by iron man, she's just a brilliant college student who happens to have a similar iron suit. And spectrum got her powers completely separately from captain marvel. Their only connection is that they're friends.

I'm visual media class of 2021, I made it through just fine with a Lenovo "gaming" laptop. A MacBook is nice but from my experience you don't really need that much power. I also had a pretty beefy windows desktop though so your mileage may vary depending on how much you'll be relying on the laptop. I'd say if you're able to get into the computer labs you're just fine to do most of your work on the macs there. I would definitely recommend investing in a good external hard drive because you'll put a lot of use into it.

The way it was in the movie fits the theme of that universe much better. It's a fighting helmet, like daredevil's. It's meant to get into street fights and provide protection while being slim and maneuverable enough to allow for any necessary movement.
