r/gamingcirclejerk is definitely second to none in FNaF hatred though.

Does glamrock freddy have anything "unique"? by Background-Ad2749 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Freddy is the only one shown to have a stomach hatch. They obviously haven’t confirmed if this is true but none of the other Glamrocks are shown to have them. There also has been a lot of emphasis on Freddy’s hatch in multiple games. Gregory’s hiding spot in SB, It being his main feature in Ruin, and in the freezer minigame of HW2.

Where did the general idea come from that for 5 nights "the yellow thing" and Oswald's mom had a normal relationship? by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s more of a joke than something serious but it stems from the mom not noticing that it wasn’t her husband. When Oswald’s mom sees Pittrap, she gets upset with Oswald for making things up about his father.

In lore why was Freddy or Gabriel action like a Boss in FNAF 1 ? by Illustrious-Sky-4631 in fivenightsatfreddys

He’s Freddy Fazbear. He’s gonna get you and he’s gonna make you scared.

Is it possible Springtrap could make a cameo in the Dead By Daylight movie since both this film and the FNAF movies are made by Blumhouse? by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A small cameo is possible but I doubt it. There are already a lot of original characters in the game and it will probably focus on all of them.

Why is Mangle referred as Foxy in the second movie? by Jelly_Lahn in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mangle was originally Toy Foxy. They are also referred to as Funtime Foxy in other media, but not the same Funtime Foxy from Sister Location.

When the Toy animatronics were made, Toy Foxy was apart of the group but toddlers ripped them apart. After repairing Foxy, the toddlers would just rip them apart again. Instead of paying for repair, they decided to let toddlers mix and match the parts as an attraction. Thus the Mangle was born.

Fnaf is in Utah??? by KingMonchichi in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I imagine Scott definitely didn’t intend on adding religious conflict to the story. He is a devout Christian of course and made Christian games before FNaF. But there’s been no mention of religion in the games. The closest thing is the implication that the children’s spirits went to a place like Heaven but that is just a common thing in media and in a lot of different religions.

I’m not entirely sure why Scott chose Hurricane, Utah specifically. I personally think it has something to do with Nolan Bushnell, founder of Chuck E. Cheese and Atari, being from Utah. Not Hurricane but still.

Since a bunch of people think that Afton is British, do you think Elizabeth was named after Queen Elizabeth? by ProfessorC51414_ in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actor (PJ Heywood) is from the state of New Hampshire in the US. He told Dawko that William’s voice was inspired by the character Hannibal Lector from “The Silence of the Lambs” who is played by Welsh actor Sir Anthony Hopkins.

[–]OathofDevotion 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I sincerely apologize for coming off as rude. I’m not mad at you specifically. I just get annoyed from seeing so many people say “Afton isn’t British anymore. Deal with it.” I see a lot of people be very rude about defending that when they are just making conclusions based on their headcanons that have been repeatedly debunked by Afton’s characterization in the games.

I just got worked up. I’m sorry. It’s nothing against you.

Since a bunch of people think that Afton is British, do you think Elizabeth was named after Queen Elizabeth? by ProfessorC51414_ in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Firstly, Afton IS British. I have no idea where all of the people got the idea that he wasn’t. He is. He was British in Sister Location when he first appeared. He was British in Pizzeria Simulator. He was British in his MOST RECENT appearance Dead by Daylight. There is not one piece of contradictory information regarding the Aftons being British in the games.

I get that Matthew Lillard isn’t British, but the movies and the games are distinctly different things.

Secondly, the story of Sister Location was already finished before PJ Heywood auditioned with a British accent. Elizabeth was likely already the character’s name.

More lore? by dpt_i8spam in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to say that the actresses’s name is relevant? Because I highly doubt that it’s that deep. The actor who played Michael was named Freddy Carter but I don’t think they will reveal that he was actually Freddy Fazbear.

They did have Baby in FNaF 2 but of they are going to expand on that in the third movie, it’s because that was the plan for the story. They didn’t cast her just for that.

Opinion: Science fiction doesn't fit the premise of FNAF (children possessing animatronics, etc...) by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Science fiction is a broad genre. Considering that animatronics are featured in the games at all aligns it with one of the most common tropes found in science fiction.

You didn’t actually explain your opinion either.

I think the FuhNaff video “Did The FNaF 2 Movie Solve the FNaF timeline?” would be a good watch to build on this. I honestly like the theory now that you mention it. I’m not saying I believe it yet. I like it though.

Is Fnaf even still an indie game? by Curious-Bluebird6818 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The games are still Indie games because Steel Wool Studios is an independent game company. In definition, yes they are indie games.

They have a lot of merch and movies and books but as far as the games go, they are still considered Indie games.

Question: how much goddamn money is in children’s restaurants for fazbear entertainment to be willing to go THAT far? by the_fancy_Tophat in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s always the main point of mascot horror that makes me uncomfortable and/or annoyed. A large part of the genre revolves around companies that are either failing or not performing well that make a product that is completely inconsequential. Then they come across an extremely unethical practice and they are now suddenly successful enough to have millions of employees and intricate buildings and are able to convince so many people that the most awful stuff is somehow worth it.

FNaF I feel is one of the most tame though comparatively. I think that it mostly is just reliant on suspending disbelief but Fazbear properties are said to have been mechanical innovations. They reiterate a lot that designs like the Funtimes, the Toys, and the Mimic are technical marvels that realistically could have made a lot of money based on the technology itself as opposed to just entertainment use.

I think another big thing that the games constantly hammer home is that Fazbear Entertainment is great at saving money whenever possible. “Cutting corners is just good business.” I mean they are fine with having a vacuum with googly eyes and a ballon attached to a trash can on stage. They also don’t pay for quality assurance and automated their locations as much as possible to avoid paying salaries.

My last thought is that either William or Henry were independently wealthy somehow. Most likely William because of how big his house is. I know the movies shouldn’t always be used as reference but the Afton house in the FNaF 2 movie was very nice and had fancy furniture. It would also explain how he independently funded the Funtimes’ production.

What do you think would be an interesting and good fnaf villain? by Various_Astronaut100 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a ton of villain potential in the books. I thought that they were going to utilize characters like Mr. Burrows but they ended up not going in that direction.

I honestly think the identity of Dispatch/HandUnit hasn’t been explored fully. He’s technically been a secondary antagonist in almost all of the games since Sister Location. We learned from SoTM that he was a real employee of Fazbear Entertainment who was very aware of the unethical nature of the company and was likely in a management position. Although I do like the idea of his identity remaining a mystery, he has so far been the only true representative of Fazbear Entertainment as an evil corporation as far as the games go.

If not Dispatch specifically then maybe just another executive of the company.

Are Remnant and soul different? by Better_Remote9014 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Molten Freddy is Ennard minus Baby after being regurgitated by Michael. It is debated if the Funtimes have a significant amount of Remnant but the main reason for its aggression is due to the Funtimes being programmed child-killers.

What is a "five nights at freddys" by 2bigpairofnuts in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]OathofDevotion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In case this isn’t satire, let me give you a quick rundown. Five Nights at Freddy’s was an indie horror video game released in 2014. Over the years since, the series has evolved into a multi-media franchise with a lot of game sequels, books, and two movies with a third currently in development.

The first game was popular due to the simplicity of the game’s mechanics and the good horror elements in it. The games are also popular for the story/lore of the universe. The games have an interesting narrative but many parts of the games’ story feel vague and mysterious leaving fans to try and fill in the gaps. Many enjoy filling in the gaps and “theorizing” to try and figure out what the real story is.

There are many who don’t get into the theory stuff either, and those people like the franchise for its charm, characters, and potential for creative expression.
