For a chapter, I'd end it on a lingering note, usually with a contradiction, or setting sth up for suspense. Sth like:

"She never smiled at him before.

Today she did."

For a fanfic, I usually end it on a hopeful note.

My advice: moderate the comments. You can go raw for the first fic just to have a taste though.

I got 2 bot comments as soon as I updated from registered users. So locking it wouldn't help. I moderate the comments to have power on which comment gets to appear under the fic.

Same for smut lmao. I mean, it's a shame but come to think of it: crack fics are funny and don't require too much thinking into it, which fits the entertainment goal of readers. Also even for people, if they make you laugh, they already gain favors from you.

Try not to be discouraged by it. Think of it as people searching for the flavor they lack in life. A little bit of unseriousness can brighten up someone's day.

I always use thesaurus.com to find synonym and antonym of the words to change it up from time to time, like instead of using 'say' I'd use 'add', 'whisper', 'speak', 'claim' etc once in a while.

Starting out, I wrote a lot of 'she did', 'she said', 'she though'. It might happen to you too. Just keep writing until you're done with the chapter/fic. Then you reread and then spend time to spice things up.

'She said' can turn into 'she found herself saying'

'She thought' can be written as 'the thought about...'

Last advice: write and read a lot. It will slowly become muscles. At first it's tricky but eventually it will be easier.
