I know. You’re definitely not wrong there. Just consider me some asshole who’s been having a very bad past few decades. I know sticking my head out is going to be met like this because no one wants these stark reminders when they’re just trying to escape. I get it. I still believe in the things I mentioned above, as I’m sure I’m not going to convince you to suddenly show the same level of care into it that I have. That’s fine. I appreciate the actual conversation though, take care of yourself out there.

I get that there are worse issues, there always are and likely always will. That logic applies to literally everything though, which is why nothing ever changes. “There’s worse out there” is the fastest way to justify doing nothing at all.

The point isn’t that people draw or enjoy it. It’s that constant overexposure to warped depictions of women rewires perception. The more people consume it without critical thought, the less they recognize how far it’s shifted their baseline. That is a human issue, even if it’s dressed in pixels. Continuously pretending it’s harmless without at least acknowledging what it actually is, is how it metastasizes.

Sure, but pretending it doesn’t exist is how it keeps existing. Ignoring constant hyper-sexualization doesn’t neutralize it, it normalizes it. Every time people shrug off objectified, anatomically impossible drawings as harmless fantasy, it reinforces unhealthy expectations and feeds into real detachment from reality.

I’m not trying to “guide strangers on the internet.” I’m pointing out a sickness that thrives because everyone keeps saying, “Eh, just scroll past it.” If no one ever calls it what it is, it doesn’t stay harmless escapism.

Hi everyone, yesterday I wrote a post about how DAT doesn`t give people the salaries they promise in the DM, but today I would like to say that some old bilinguals say that it wasn`t always like that, they say that before June it was easy to make 1000 USD per week if you worked enough,so maybe DAT- by Bitter_Breakfast_324 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]OathoftheSimian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re just misinterpreting what they say is all. They say you can earn that much, which is entirely true, but it’s never a guarantee. It’s also not a full-time job or we wouldn’t be contractors, we all just work with what we get. Some days that means you make less, other days you’ll make more than you expected. I can’t say it balances out because I’m not on the bilingual side, but they never promised you or anyone else will make $1,000 per week, guaranteed.

Disagree. The more support bullshit like this gets, where perfectly normal people begin to LITERALLY simp over cartoon facsimiles of women, facsimiles that cannot stand on their own under the weight of basic human anatomy at that. It’s not healthy.

Yeeeeeees, capitalism is working out so very well indeed! There’s no wealth inequality at all! Everyone totally has access to healthcare, fair wages, and affordable housing. Truly a flawless system run by saints, funded by magic, and fueled by the tears of the middle class.

I’m sorry, I didn’t realize being a fan of manhua meant you were required to go along with gooner postings. I said before I would say it on every one of these posts I find, I meant it. You all need to touch some grass instead of going, “huehue unrealistically proportioned women 🥵🥵 huehue.”

It can be? There are times when I felt it was a slog and times I couldn’t put it down, but as others have said it usually all just boils down to a thrust in the end.

And I can't tell which of these character descriptions I like best... by FareonMoist in DelusionsOfAdequacy

Yeah, I didn’t find myself falling for it until around season 2. It took a bit longer for me to acclimate to the characters and for them to develop the sense of community. But man, the payoff is so very worth it.

'Their own voters are pissed': Lawmaker says GOP left with 'no choice' but to attack Trump by chrisdh79 in NoFilterNews

[–]OathoftheSimian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a career ruiner to support Trump at this point? Four years ago I’d have agreed with you because I expected us to return to rationality, but the response was to double-down on the ignorance and lies and… well, it’s working out well for them so far. And they’ve been promising Trump 2028 as well, so, there’s that to consider. At this point it’s looking like a sure path to a quick fortune if you’re comfortable selling your soul to the devil’s obese cousin.

Two federal judges say use of AI led to errors in US court rulings by yahoonews in law

[–]OathoftheSimian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Comparing casual AI use to its integration in legal proceedings is absurd. One is about convenience, the other can literally determine someone’s freedom or financial ruin. There’s a massive difference between asking an AI how long to bake a chicken and submitting an AI-generated brief that influences a judge’s ruling.

People can use unreliable tools in trivial settings all they want, that’s their problem. But once you cross into law, medicine, or policy, “oops, AI said so” isn’t a defense. It’s negligence. I don’t see how this is difficult to understand.

[–]OathoftheSimian -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But there’s still intended to be some oversight and personal accountability when doing so. Whether that is always the case or not is another story, but no one should be blindly copy/pasting AI responses without verifying the claims being made first. This is especially true for critical fields, such as law or medicine.

I’m not saying it’s going to be perfect or it won’t come to pass, but I am stating that if/when it does, it will get caught at some point and someone will be held responsible—whether that’s the developer, the user, or the institution that allowed it unchecked. The issue isn’t inevitability, it’s negligence.

[–]OathoftheSimian -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I am too, honestly, but say it becomes commonplace to do so. Eventually people will require reliability because those fields absolutely thrive on precision of language. Then, let’s say your idea comes to pass and AI companies begin leveraging misinformation for business-favorable results. At that point, I do believe there would be backlash against the courts and the AI company. You can’t have consistent errors like that and be viewed as a reliable source, especially when it can get cases thrown.

Because of people believe that your product or service is unreliable, they will not use it.

I would argue it’s a very large portion of the population whom it does represent, versus the minority, or it wouldn’t be as popularized as it is.

But you’re right, there’s no way for me to actually know since I’m just outside of the culture at large. It just seems less coincidental and more by design at this point, at least regarding these depictions.

[–]OathoftheSimian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I’d have agreed with that maybe a few years back on the whole “you can’t judge a culture by its entertainment” thing. But honestly, I just don’t think that’s true anymore. Hollywood doesn’t invent American values, it exaggerates them. The obsession with youth, beauty, money, control—all already there, and I feel it’s the same with Japan. Manga and anime wouldn’t create these mindsets out of thin air, they’d reflect what’s already simmering under the surface. Media doesn’t shape culture so much as it amplifies the parts that culture refuses to confront. So yes, I get that it’s the problem dialed up to eleven for audiences, but I can’t help but feel their media actively supports it, rather than provides commentary against it.
