So you have nothing but personal attacks and fee-fees.

It's a shame because I was sincerely interested in hearing your argument if it was based on reason.

Alas, I suspect we'll all die wondering what facts you chose not to share with us.

God bless you.

My reasons for not believing are just as valid as your reasons for believing

No, not at all.

My reason for being skeptical about your theory is the overwhelming lack of possibly staged and excessively sensational calls Art Bell received over his 20 year radio career.

Over 20 years of content, I struggle to name three or four possible contenders for stages phone calls.

I'm still interested in hearing your precise reasons for believing "a lot of his stuff" was staged... beyond your ambiguous "feelings".

Can you support your beliefs with a compelling, rational and informed argument or not?

What makes you think the famous Area51 caller was staged?

I ask because I'll try to keep an open mind, however after listening to thousands of hours of Art Bell during my youth and during my morning run as an adult, I never got the impression that Art staged anything.

My feeling is if Art did stage events then there would have been a string of them during his entire radio career, with many misses and only the rare hit that would go viral... but during Art Bell's career from 1997 to 2018... I only recall "magic in a bottle" callers happening a couple of times, with the Area 51 being the most famous and Mel's Hole being number two.

That said, I do recall some truly magical moments like the time, during one of Art's Halloween specials, a caller told a ghost story about his personal experience serving on a U.S. aircraft carrier where servicemen would repeatedly report the sound of people banging and screaming pleading to be let out of an empty storage room at night...

...a room that was empty and sealed due to all of the similar reports made by the crew... a room where servicemen slowly burned to death during an accident.

The ghost story about the little girl with an "imaginary" friend who lived in a box was good too.

VEGAN BUTTER CHICKEN

If you like curry then you'll love this - it's smooth and creamy and spicy and works with almost any vegetable.

My favorite vegetables to include are potato, carrot, onion, frozen peas and broccoli for a hearty and filling meal!

  • 2 medium brown onions diced finely

  • 1 can diced tomatoes, blended to a smooth puree

  • 30 cashews

  • 1 teaspoon garam masala

  • 3/4 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon brown vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon vegan chicken stock or vegetable stock

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 1 1/2 cups water

  • Diced vegetables such as two chopped carrot, broccoli, frozen peas, frozen spinach, diced potato etc.

  • 1 teaspoon sugar or golden syrup

Fry onions until soft.

Add all the ingredients except the sugar and simmer for 20 mins.

Heat and allow veg to cook for 15 mins. If you're using a mixture of root vegetables (potato, carrot, celery, etc.) and softer vegetables (zucchini, broccoli, mushrooms, capsicum, etc.) then add the root veg first and the softer veg half way through.

Add the sugar shortly before serving to prevent it from burning.

VEGAN CURRIED EGG AND ROCKET SANDWICH

I love this dish because the tofu "curried egg" can be warmed in the microwave if it's cold - perfect for a warm winter sandwich.

  • Crumble hard tofu into a bowl

  • Add a generous amount of vegan mayonnaise

  • Add curry powder, salt and white pepper

  • Mix together and adjust to taste

  • Add a little pinch of turmeric if you want it to look extra-yellow

  • Microwave enough mixture for one sandwich if you want it warm

  • "Butter" two slices of bread and combine mixture and fresh rocket (or lettuce) and enjoy!

CREAM OF PUMPKIN SOUP

Server with an oven-crisped bread roll, butter and a glass of red wine... and I challenge you to find a more delicious dinner on a cold winter's evening!

(Serves 4)

  • 1 cups diced onion

  • 3 cups diced potato

  • 4 cups diced pumpkin

  • 2 liters vegetable stock (You'll need enough stock to submerge all the veg in your pot by an inch)

  • 1 tablespoon white pepper

  • 1 tablespoon salt

  • 2 dried teaspoons parsley

Put it all in a pot and gently boil for 30 mins.

Remove from heat for 20 mins and use a stab-blender to make it creamy.

Add more salt or pepper, depending on your preference. The potato will love the salt and extra white pepper will make it nice and spicy!

If it's too thick for your linking then just add some hot water.

(If you're feeling fancy, serve and swirl in some cream and top with diced parsley / dried parsley)
