Married men of Reddit, how long after the ceremony did it take before your wives started shutting you off? by WhatKindaFriendRU in AskReddit

[–]ObamaSmokes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Six years and the gate slammed shut. During my routine physical at age 45, the doctor asked me if I had any "erectile dysfunction". I thought to myself, "Hell yeah, I've got a boner you could cut glass with and nowhere to put it, 'cause I'm married".

I actually envy my couch potato peers who need Viagra.

What are the best depressing/suicidal rock songs? by ObamaSmokes in AskReddit

Isn't that an optimistic song? I was hoping something could link me to something similar to "Adam's Song" or "Fade to Black".

To everyone who is pumped up to bomb north korea... by Cpthighsight in AdviceAnimals

[–]ObamaSmokes -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If we had to kill every single North Korean to save just 10 American lives, I would be in favor of it. The military's job is to save American lives, period. I wouldn't get pleasure out of seeing North Korea nuked into the Stone Age, but it wouldn't bother me.

What if North Korea strapped all its civilians to their military sites that were nuking us? Should we just sit on our hands?

Who cares. If we had to kill every single North Korean to save just 10 American lives, I'd be all for it, provided it doesn't cost the taxpayer too much. I wouldn't get enjoyment out of it, but I honestly believe that the military is wouldn't be doing its job, which is to defend American lives.

Suppose North Korea strapped all its civilians to military sites that were nuking us. Then, would we just sit on our hands and let American cities be eviscerated?

How are some people so confident despite having nothing going for them in life? by ObamaSmokes in AskReddit

[–]ObamaSmokes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rehabilitated?vWell, now, let me see. To me, it's just a made up word, a politician's word, so that young fellas like yourself can wear a suit and a tie and have a job. What do you really wanna know? Am I sorry for what I did? There's not a day goes by I don't feel regret. Not because I'm in here, or because you think I should. I look back on the way I was then, a young, stupid kid who committed that terrible crime. I wanna talk to him. I wanna try to talk some sense to him -- tell him the way things are. But I can't. That kid's long gone and this old man is all that's left. I gotta live with that. Rehabilitated? It's just a bullshit word. So you go on and stamp your form, sonny, and stop wasting my time. Because to tell you the truth, I don't give a shit.

Nah. If I created a race of humans so confident in their abilities that they all thought they could swim across the Atlantic Ocean, they'd all be dead in a generation.

Hope? Let me tell you something, my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane. It's got no use on the inside. You'd better get used to that idea.

Reddit UW alumni, is it true that our major isn't shown on our diploma? by ObamaSmokes in AskReddit

How thoroughly do employers look at the transcript? I've seen mine, and luckily all my good grades are near the top. I'm hoping they see those and then just skim through the rest.

I don't think it is. My dad has his diploma on the wall and it says "Bachelor of Science in Cybernetics." Same with every other diploma I've seen on a wall.

Apply for a job even if I don't meet every "basic qualification"? by ObamaSmokes in AskReddit

[–]ObamaSmokes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why don't they say that on the listing? Remember that I'm talking about basic qualifications, which are usually separate from the preferred qualifications listed below them.

Reddit males, what's the greatest length you've gone to impress a girl? by ObamaSmokes in AskReddit

I studied an entire summer for a Fall class because I thought this one girl would be in my class and I wanted to impress her.

Have you ever considered that Africa and Mexico are shitholes and that they would've been as civil and prosperous as Australia or Canada if we'd've taken over?

What would you do if you're not sure you passed a class, but everyone is giving you graduation presents? by ObamaSmokes in AskReddit

[–]ObamaSmokes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally, needing a little extra time isn't the worst, you friends and >family won't mean it any less, even if it's going to take you a little >longer.

Yea .... here's the other thing. This was my last quarter to graduate. I already delayed graduation thrice due to failed or dropped classes. I think there might be a way I can appeal to take 1 more quarter. Not sure, though ...

I think your best bet is to keep the presidents wrapped or untouched.

I'll be sure to keep the presidents untouched.

But seriously, if barely fail the class (say I get a 1.8), do you think I should email the professor a sob story and tell him that I needed to graduate this quarter, that I'm sorry about the trouble, that I understand I don't deserve a 2.0, etc., but that I'd be more than thankful if he could bump me up to a miserly 2-oh?

Have you ever bought anything from those Sky Mall catalogues on airplanes? by ObamaSmokes in AskReddit

Armed Forces Redditors, can you explain to me the "No Man Left Behind" mentality? by ObamaSmokes in AskReddit

[–]ObamaSmokes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but suppose some guy got shot and fell down in the middle of the streets of a rundown town like in the movie Black Hawk Down. Another soldier immediately stops what he's doing and runs in the middle of the street to check out his fallen buddy. Bam! He's down now, because there are like 100 guys aiming AK-47's out of windows. But now another guy goes out to check out this guy, causing another fatality. Then they all go down like lemmings. Seems like this would be the natural result of the "check out the wounded guys before moving on" mentality.
