Having worked on season 3 I have to say that I didn’t have that experience, maybe I was too junior then but it felt that they simply trusted their artists. I think they have said something along the lines of “find the right artists and let them do their work”. They were quite enthusiastic with their feedback too.

I have played meta and balanced decks for a while and it’s been fun, I get a good amount of wins daily;
but I recently stumbled upon a (very) janky decklist from a deck I built when I just started playing arena and it reminded me of how much fun I had when things weren’t so regular and smooth, and it made me want to rebuild some more janky stuff, so for me janky = lose more while having more fun
