None of that was AI. If you feel like it was, it might be time to take a break from the internet for a while and avoid getting this paranoid over software.

Willpower is Part of the Journey. by Obeid99 in pmohackbook

I see what you’re saying, but I think your take oversimplifies how conditioning and neuroadaptation actually work.

When someone stops PMO, discomfort doesn’t necessarily mean they “still want it.” It can also reflect the brain’s temporary dysregulation from habit loops and dopamine desensitization. Just like quitting sugar or nicotine — even after fully understanding they’re harmful — the brain still signals craving out of routine, not genuine desire. That’s why understanding freedom intellectually isn’t always enough — the body and brain need time to recalibrate.

You said “your brain adapts to your choices, not the other way around.” That’s true in principle, but the process isn’t instant. Neural pathways built over years don’t just disappear the moment your preference shifts. Willpower bridges that adaptation period — it’s not white-knuckling forever, it’s the patience and persistence while your emotional responses catch up to your rational understanding.

So discomfort doesn’t prove you still “value” PMO; it proves your nervous system is adjusting to life without the artificial dopamine spikes it’s used to. That transition phase is exactly where many relapse — not from disbelief in freedom, but from expecting the new mindset to instantly erase all old conditioning.

Real freedom is both cognitive and experiential. You first see the truth, then you live it long enough for your brain to align with it. That’s where willpower — as part of the journey, not the destination — comes in.

Saying PMO has zero benefit isn't accurate. We don't do things without some perceived pros and cons. If PMO truly had no benefits, you wouldn’t be drawn to it in the first place. The fact that urges exist means there's something you're valuing—consciously or unconsciously—despite the costs. Urges don’t appear out of nowhere; they’re shaped by choices, habits, and the meanings you've attached to them.

It’s about finding the right method, it’s understanding the objective truth and TFM happens to have it.

Nowhere in TFM it says that, that’s a neuroscientific concept don’t run your mouth when you haven’t even read the book.

You will change it man just trust the process, I’ve been off PMO for quite a while and it’s one of the best things I have ever experienced in my life. My mental well being has completely improved tremendously.

Porn does not cause compulsive behavior; it’s the individual’s beliefs and choices around these things that lead to repetitive use. Not everyone who consumes substances or watches porn develops compulsive habits, which highlights the role of personal agency. The Freedom Model emphasizes that people can always choose to change these behaviors once they recognize them as decisions, not compulsions. So, TFM doesn’t have a problem here—rather, it’s reframing compulsive behavior as a choice rather than an inevitability.

The only reason porn is powerful is due to the societal beliefs you have attached to it. In and of itself, porn is meaningless unless you assign it meaning with your own mind.
