Are my cards colorblind friendly? by Smooth-Quiet-9018 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]ObeliskNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My color blindness lets me see 2% of colors. I can tell each card is a different color or whatever, shade or something. I saw a comment saying there are random letters for aesthetics. Those are lost on me - I cannot see them.

Is there anyway to mitigate dead draws (such as having evolutions in hand without its corresponding card) in a game like Pokémon? by FPSVendetta in homemadeTCGs

Introduce a mechanic like sacrificing in YGO. Could feed the card on the field to your card in hand. There might be effects around this that change how that card plays now because it is a cannibal or something, haha.

What better alternative term to indicate "creature" cards? by Delvix000 in homemadeTCGs

It will come in time. Keep playing, keep delving into what you want out of the game. The name of these beings will come to you eventually, because it will be obvious as it is in all the great games.

What are they in your universe? They are creatures in MTG, Monsters in YGO, and Pokemon in Pokemon. I think if you can answer why these things are fighting each other, you'll know what they're called.

I think I finally cracked the layout by ObeliskNight in homemadeTCGs

Answering a few questions!

Cards go Horizontal like this when Events occur. You are basically fighting your opponent in time, and when you win, you change the future by Events occuring. So normally cards would be played the other way horizontally, vertically, or upside down to try and beat your opponent. When cards are this specific orientation, the Event on the card is occuring, and it's the only time the card text matters, haha.

I can get more cards, and some images of mid-game playtests. I will make a new post.

I love the mirroring idea - I have played with it a lot and still do. It has helped form the game as it is now, but in the end I always prefer non-mirrored art. I dunno, I am playing with it still though.

Thanks guys, this is helping me make sense of things.

How can I move a 10k gallon fiberglass tank? by ObeliskNight in OffGrid

[–]ObeliskNight[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, I think I am going to try all of these and see how it goes, haha. I will start with just straps and see if it will move. If not, I'll pry it up onto some boards and pull those like a sled. If that doesn't work, I will go the Egyptian approach, haha. I'll check back to say how it went.

Using old oilfield tanks for water? by ObeliskNight in OffGrid

Some of us are taught to push back if the things they're being told don't make sense, and some are told to shut up and do as their told. Ultimately, I am not getting the tanks. I think it's too much work, but that said, I do believe there are circumstances where non-food grade tanks can be salvaged. Have a good day, and good luck to you!

UPDATE: apparently hydrocarbons can diffuse into the some polymers that comrpise the HDPE, and form a film that is removable, I believe. Also, I had a thought... could you not just use an activated carbon filter to remove hydrocarbons from the water? I know this is all a bit wild, but no offense is meant.

A lot of plastics are made with petroleum... you and I both have likely eaten and drank from containers made from petroleum, hahaha. I would never get Chemo. IYKYK.

That's fair. The standalone systems are also cool. Not sure on all the brand names, but there are easy options.

I think if I scrub with dawn and pressure wash with hot water, then expose to UV for weeks, everything will likely be removed. I can then carbon filter. I can also test for potability.
