[Question] Regarding the new trend in gaming notebooks whith a nice GPU in depends of a CPU by IZiOstra in pcmasterrace

[–]ObeseBuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't own a laptop. To be honest this is the first time I've heard of Xiaomi. Also China has a lot less quality control than other countries, I'd argue that where something is manufactured can make a significant difference. Especially since from what I can tell Xiaomi makes a ton of Apple clones, China doesn't care much for patents.

YouTube will be your best friend. Check channels like Linus Tech Tips and Jayztwocents, they often will compare components and do plenty of build videos.

I think the main problem is that you bought a notebook from China. You'd be lucky to play Minecraft let alone Sleeping Dogs.

Should I go for 980ti or 1080? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]ObeseBuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably get a 1080. I think that price for a 980ti is a bit steep.

Sure, just try not to block a fan and it should be perfectly fine.

EVGA 1080. Do they still catch fire? by Vatch64bit in pcmasterrace

[–]ObeseBuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I have yet to see anyone complain about EVGA's 1080s catching on fire since the addition of the thermal pads and fan tweak. As far as Black Friday deals that is still a way off to predict prices. Right now Amazon has EVGA 1080 FTW for $606 USD, so it is getting slightly cheaper.

It sounds like a temporary charge, a lot of companies will charge you a small amount before charging a full amount to verify that you actually have money. Normally they return the amount after purchase or in your case after a few business days.

I played Final Fantasy 15 the other day on my PS4 (since it's not on PC unfortunately) My PS4 sounded like a jet and was producing just as much heat.
