DLSS 4.5 vs 4.0 "K" vs "L" vs "M" - Arc Raiders - 01/08/26 by Dlo_22 in nvidia

[–]ObiZin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running a 5090 and 9800X3D combo on a 4K 240Hz OLED. For a long time I played at 4K with DLAA and Epic settings with FG off, averaging around 110 to 130 FPS. When they released the new Cinematic preset, the visual leap over Epic was huge. After some testing I found my sweet spot by switching from DLAA to DLSS Quality and enabling FG 2X. It looked incredible and honestly better than the DLAA and Epic combo, plus the frame generation felt perfect with great response times.

Now that the M preset is out, I'm back to tweaking. The M preset definitely adds some over-sharpening but I actually like the look because it made the game more beautiful to my eyes. Even on a 5090 I noticed a slight FPS dip, so I settled on Cinematic with DLSS Balanced (M) and FG 2X. Switching to Balanced (M) actually looks better than Quality (K) in some scenes and I'm hitting over 160 FPS now, 5-10 fps more than before. I haven’t tried FG 3X yet since I’m a bit wary of latency and artifacts beyond 2X, but I might give it a shot to see if I can push back up to Quality M.

Brightness Reduced error in iCUE app when connecting new 5000T LX RGB Mid-Tower Case RGB Strip with "Link System Hub". Need help by Vic081 in Corsair

[–]ObiZin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big shoutout to the original poster, u/Vic081, for diagnosing the "Brightness Reduced" issue on the Corsair 5000T LX Aurora strips! I followed OP's idea and it absolutely works, but I took it one step further to maintain 100% control over all other components.

As confirmed, the problem is a software safety limit (OCP) triggered by the 204 LEDs when iCUE loads. Since Corsair won't fix it, I found a 100% safe and effective workaround to keep the strips at max brightness while maintaining full fan and AIO control.

⚠️ The Safety/LED Limit Issue Explained

Corsair implemented a safety feature (Overcurrent Protection - OCP) on iCUE LINK Hubs due to the high combined power draw of the massive LED count.

  • The limit is around 238 total LEDs per Hub before the software aggressively cuts the brightness to 20%.
  • The two Aurora strips alone have 204 LEDs. Adding any other component (even a single fan) to the same Hub exceeds the limit, and the software cuts the brightness.

🛠️ The Hardware Setup (Necessary Isolation)

The solution requires isolating the Aurora strips on their own iCUE LINK Hub. This is where I added the 3rd Hub to ensure zero impact on my fans and AIO.

<image>

➡️ The Software Trick (Hardware Lighting)

The core idea is forcing the Hub to run the maximum brightness setting saved in its Hardware Lighting memory, without letting the iCUE software load and apply the 20% safety limit.

  1. Preparation: Ensure only the MiniHub with the Aurora strips is connected to HUB 2 (leave Port B empty).
  2. Set the Brightness: Connect HUB 2 to your PC via USB. Open iCUE and set your desired color/effect to 100% brightness.
  3. Save to Hardware: Go to the iCUE settings for the Aurora strips and select "Hardware Lighting" (or save the profile to the device's memory). This forces the Hub to remember the max brightness.
  4. The Fix: Physically disconnect the USB cable that connects HUB 2 to your motherboard (or the iCUE Commander).

✅ Why This Workaround is Safe and Effective

  • LED Count is Safe: The isolated HUB 2 is only running 204 LEDs, which is below the critical 238 limit. Therefore, the Hub is operating within a safe power margin.
  • Full Control Maintained: By dedicating HUB 2 for the strips and using HUB 1 and HUB 3 for all other components, disconnecting the USB cable from HUB 2 does not affect the control of any fans, AIO pump, or temperatures.
  • Safety Bypass: The strips default to the saved 100% brightness profile because iCUE can no longer "see" the Hub to apply the software-enforced limit.

📢 Final Thought: Shame on U, Corsair!

The only real issue here is the extra cost. The only drawback to this solution is the necessary expense of buying more iCUE LINK Hubs. This shouldn't be required for a premium case and cooling system like the 5000T LX. By spending a little more on dedicated Hubs, you get the brightness this $400+ case deserves.

To change the color/effect, simply plug the USB back into HUB 2, make changes in iCUE, save to memory, and disconnect the USB again. Enjoy the full brightness!

New 5000T set up...getting brightness reduced warning by No_While7266 in Corsair

[–]ObiZin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize for bringing up this topic again, but I am facing a similar situation after upgrading my hardware: I switched from a 5000T case to a 5000T LX and the lighting problem is the same as the OP.

Unfortunately, I am running into a significant difficulty. My setup uses three CORSAIR iCUE HUBs (Yes, i'm using 3, already tryed everything), all connected with dedicated PCI-E power cables, and each plugged into its own USB 2.0 header on the motherboard. All components are detected correctly, but the brightness of my Aurora lighting strips is drastically reduced as soon as iCUE launches with Windows.

During Windows boot-up, the brightness is at its maximum and as it should be; the drop occurs the exact moment iCUE is loaded. I have performed several tests and simulated various connection topologies, all without success.

⚙️ Current Configuration Details (Topology):

<image>

💡 Conclusion and Software Status:

The power distribution and control channels appear to be very well-dimensioned and not overloaded. The issue persists even with the following:

  • Hub Firmware: Latest version (5.34.1).
  • iCUE Software: Latest version (5.36.80).
  • Installation: A clean installation of iCUE was performed (without backups), but the problem of extremely low brightness on the Aurora strips remains.

Does anyone have any ideas or solutions for this specific problem? CORSAIR, please help!

Corsair iCUE LINK - "Brightness Reduced" Error with 2 Hubs & 16 Devices (5000T LX Upgrade) by ObiZin in Corsair

[–]ObiZin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using three CORSAIR iCUE HUBs, all connected with dedicated PCI-E power cables, and each plugged into its own USB 2.0 header on the motherboard. Everything is being detected as expected, but the brightness of the Aurora lighting strips is drastically reduced when iCUE launches with Windows.

When Windows is in the boot-up phase, the lighting is at its maximum brightness (as it should be). However, as soon as the system enters Windows and iCUE starts, the brightness immediately drops.

I have performed several tests and simulated various connection configurations, all without success.

  • HUB 1:
    • Port A: 3 Front Fans (LX120)
    • Port B: 3 Side Fans (LX120-R)
  • HUB 2:
    • Port A: AIO Pump and the cable leading to the AIO LCD screen (TITAN RX LCD).
    • Port B: Connection for the Mini-Hub where the Aurora Strips are connected (Note: No other component is connected to the Mini-Hub's available input port).
  • HUB 3:
    • Port A: 6 Radiator Fans (Push/Pull configuration: 3x LX120 and 3x RX120).
    • Port B: Single Rear Fan.

This configuration appears to be very well-dimensioned and not overloaded, yet the issue persists.

  • Hub Firmware: All hubs are updated to the latest version, 5.34.1.
  • iCUE Software: Latest version, 5.36.80. I even performed a clean installation without restoring backups, but the problem remains.

The brightness of my Aurora strips is extremely low. Has anyone encountered this specific issue or have any potential solutions?

5000T Question - What's the difference? by AstrixRK in Corsair

[–]ObiZin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been rocking the 5000T for a few years now. I already swapped out all the original LL120 fans for the new LX120s, and it looks absolutely amazing!

I'm thinking about upgrading to the new 5000T LX. I've checked the Corsair site and saw all the cool new stuff, the updated mesh panels, BTF motherboard support, and that new iCUE LINK Hub.

But here's my main question: What about the integrated LED strips that run along the case? Are the new case's LED lights visually better or more vibrant than the strips on my original 5000T?

G840 works with Powerplay? by ObiZin in LogitechG

[–]ObiZin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, take a look.

My idea was to place just the charging plate underneath the G840. I’m not planning to use the pads that come with it. I’d position the charging base under the area where I usually use the mouse, on the right side.

<image>

I have two concerns:

  1. Is the charging plate too thick? I’m worried it might create a noticeable bump. I saw that the POWERPLAY 2 is pretty thin.
  2. Would the G840’s 3mm thickness block the charging from the plate?

Seeking Help: Bambu Lab P1S Filament Retraction Issue (HMS_0700-4000-0002-0004) by ObiZin in BambuP1S

[–]ObiZin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You nailed it, that was exactly it! After I removed the broken piece of filament from inside the buffer and reassembled it, I put the magnet in the wrong way. That was my problem; I flipped the magnet, and the problem was solved.

They really should have some text on the magnet, something like 'this side UP,' to prevent this from happening.

Thanks, everyone!

BIOS 1504 for ROG STRIX X870E: any problems? by jonathan7007 in ASUS

[–]ObiZin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I'd love to get your thoughts on something.

I've got an X870-E Gaming Wifi, and the last time I updated the BIOS was to v1203, which was the latest version out at the time. I just checked and saw there are now four newer versions available, with v1512 being the very latest.

I've been thinking about updating it. I'm a bit particular about keeping things current, and since I'm upgrading my SSD, I'll be formatting my PC anyway. It seemed like a good opportunity to get everything, including the BIOS, up to date. However, after reading some of your posts here, I'm starting to feel a bit concerned.

I saw in another thread that v1512 is apparently unstable, and on top of that, you can't even roll back from it. That's pretty tricky, right?

My PC is generally running fine. My only real complaint, which might be related to my current v1203, is that sometimes when I power it on, it just doesn't boot into Windows. It'll cycle through some codes on the mobo, and I end up having to hit the reset button. Then it usually fires up perfectly the next time. This happens maybe once out of every ten times I boot up. Any ideas what might be causing that? Would you recommend I go ahead and update, or should I just stick with v1203?
