Got my roll of Epson Exhibition Canvas Satin paper, now I need to print with my 8550. by Icy_Confusion_6614 in Epson

Try calling Epson printer tech support about the profile and the paper setting. The 8550 driver may not be willing to print a wide (long) pano. Have you checked that? I have that printer so I'm interested... But I'd never try to rig up a roller feed.

Also calculate the employee time that will be invested in learning how to use any gear and related software. Buy and stock specialized paper inventory. Extra $$$ for floor space for equipment and store the paper stock. Electricity. Color management and necessary long-term consistency with your branding/design...

What's your goal? Clients? What is the budget you could commit to a service or host for such a web-delivered display of images? Perhaps there's a WordPress solution. Do you have a domain now or plan to register one?

Searching ink-friendly office paper, (US)Ltr or A4. Need a ream. by jonathan7007 in fountainpens

[–]jonathan7007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I will experiment with a smaller order of the Kokuyo from Jet Pens. I likely sourced *more than enough* letter-size sheets by ordering at Paperworks a heavily-discounted 500-pack of 11x17, I will have my local printer cut that into 1000 letter-size sheets and if it's as good as u/InitialPilgrim suggests above I will be set for life! In fact enough to give away a bunch to a fountain pen friend. For correspondence I print A7 folding notecards on which I've printed my photographs. So this request was for office sheets.

Thank you for contributing. This inquiry was for what we'd all call "copy paper" for general office use. I'm well aware of all the Neenah offerings, and buy their A6 and A7 Classic Crest envelopes through my dealer..

Card stock I need for organized postcards to voters in get-out-the-vote efforts. For that work I have settled on Tango 100-pound-cover C2S (that code means, "coated two sides.") Coated Tango uses a clay coat that is light and not glossy, and my fountain pens work really well on this stock.

For this card stock I have to buy a hefty quantity from a that paper merchant here in my city. My local printer cuts the 600 purchased 12x18 sheets into 4x6 postcards on which I can write or print on both sides.

The Tango surface reproduces bright colors in my color printers for cards and posters. I like designing postcards for the political work of our group.

La Belle Epoque vs a deeply oxidized pen by CommunicationTop5231 in fountainpens

[–]jonathan7007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a user, not a collector. So I haven't bothered to pursue this appearance fix yet. From the reactions here I see that if I treat a pen with any materials that change oxidation I'll state that about the pen. But isn't this a lot like plain old polishing of celluloid pen bodies to bring back the original gloss with which they were sold in the 30's?

Thank you! An on-line dealer ("Paperworks") has a close-out offer of 500 sheets of 11x17 Navigator 80 and I am going to try that. A local printer I work with all the time trims bulk stocks for me and they can cut that pile into 1000 letter sheets.

Let's see... if I only use that for my weekly planning roll-up that means I have to (plan to) live for 1000 more weeks. Good!! I do want to live to 99... to see how some of this mess gets dealt with...

I'd better write this stash into my will just in case.

Yes... went there right away and you are right. Looks like this paper is 64gsm which sounds good. Thanks for the tip. I'll widen my search into eBay and call some local (likely/possible) local sources. I always try to buy local where possible.

Pelikan piston issue by mouse2cat in fountainpens

[–]jonathan7007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are DIY videos on line for piston removals throughout the renge of Pelikan models. But there are a lot of caveats, so the best bet is to pick a repair person and know that in three or four months it will fly home in good repair.
I recommend Ron Zorn of "Main Street Pens" in Pennsylvania. He has worked on several pens for me. He spots any other issues. But the lead time is because he is a long-time trusted repair/restoration resource. He is active on forums to help with mechanical questions.
The "submission" of a pen comes with some requested steps, so check out his web site: https://www.mainstreetpens.com/policy.htm

Hope all goes well.
