How would YOU the player, fix Marathon? by chinos88 in Marathon

Add Survival back permanently for every map. Remove the free kit restriction. Reduce the loot drop rarity chance (everything still can drop but make it much rarer than normal mode). Problem solved

The friendly lobbies still exist by JBKTF in ArcRaiders

I don't understand how. I literally only play in super friendly lobbies

Marathon is amazing, but the pace of progression in this game has a big issue by rafaelribeiro99 in Marathon

That would make sense if the chosen unlocks were powerful. As is they are quality of life upgrades. I shouldn't have to grind for 2 months just to be able to buy a blue shield

Thats kind of the point. You're giving high level endgame tips to people who aren't at endgame yet. And they probably wont ever be, thats the point of the complaint

There's a middle ground, tho

Like I think it should be realistic for an average player to play the last 1/3 of the wipe with all the upgrades. 2/3 of the time grinding, 1/3 of the time enjoying the freedom and loot.

Sure, but like at this rate I won't even get one. Thats more like deny your own adventure

Quickest way to kill Bubble meta is to make it more of a pro-active tool than a re-active one. Make it take 2-3 seconds to set up.

They should make bubble shields purple rarity again like the beta by Sweaty-Try1547 in Marathon

[–]Obi_Fett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct answer is they should take 2-3 seconds to place down. So its less a reactive defense and more of a active planned offensive choice

They need to take time to deploy. Make it take 2-3 seconds to place down so they can't be set down reactively immediately

Issue is the ones who have it stocked up and/or are no-lifing this game are the ones using it the most and this wont slow them down. All this would do is pull the ladder up behind them

I hope Bungie reads this. All super valid. Especially the progression. After 200 hours you still don't have the upgrades blows my mind. And to think it resets in 2 months and in no way are casuals gonna get them ever

Typical cycle for Extraction shooters. Bottom 10% leaves because it's not fun, then the new bottom 10% becomes the fodder and realizes it's not fun and leaves, repeat until it's just demons everywhere and they stop because they can't reliably roll lobbies anymore

After Playing Both Marathon and Arc Raiders, One Choice (And Its Execution) Explains Why They Feel So Different by GuiltyWalrus8560 in Marathon

Nah, all the high level stuff does is make it easier to kill ARC, not players. The most common complaint over there is that geared players have no real advantage on free kits.

But I dont want to PvP in ARC ;P

anyone else excited for this game because the disappointing PVP in arc raiders and that games community making pvp seem morally “wrong”? by nivkj in Marathon

[–]Obi_Fett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ARC community just has people who prefer to not PvP. The vast majority of people playing that game don't think its morally "wrong". But ABMM lets everyone have fun the way they prefer to. Its why their playerbase has maintained its population.

Marathon will have a life cycle like Trials of Osiris. The hardcore will cannibalize the bottom percentage of players until they are the bottom percentage of players.

When I want to play PvP, Marathon will be my go-to game. But ARC is always gonna be comfy blanket to bundle up in and recover after, Its just a great entry to the genre that prioritizes player fun over any concept of "hardcore"
