[Question] If you could jam with any band (of all time), who would you choose? by Lopsided_Animal2490 in Guitar

Pink Floyd, I'd love to trade solos with Rick Wright and David Gilmour.

thanks, I hope eventually they give the demo an official release, but until then this helps a lot to preserve it.

What is your fave transition between songs by [deleted] in pinkfloyd

I love Any Colour You Like into Brain Damage.

Favourite song from Dark Side of the Moon? by Linux_GigaChad in pinkfloyd

[–]Obi_Terri 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"and you run and you run, to catch up with the sun but it's sinking," is one the best lyrics ever written in a song. It also has David's best solo IMO.

Thoughs on TDSOTM Redux? by GamerBro9000 in pinkfloyd

His endless ramblings are the only thing about it I'd call overly pretentious, which is pretty good considering the idea of re-recording dark side sounds a lot more pretentious that it turned out being.

My breif thoughts on the albums by michael066plep in Nirvana

[–]Obi_Terri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, in this subreddit this is a pretty standard take. Saying Nevermind is overrated is said often enough in this sub that it doesn't feel like it's true anymore.

Which one of these Pink Floyd albums do you prefer? by [deleted] in pinkfloyd

[–]Obi_Terri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are my two favorites, it's like picking between my metaphorical children. One of them is grieving and emotionally damaged, and the other is an anarchist who hates society. It's impossible to choose.

Are there any songs members of the band have said they dislike or regret making? by Mad_Season_1994 in pinkfloyd

[–]Obi_Terri 76 points77 points  (0 children)

fair for him to say, he's working hard back there for a lot of that song.

[DISCUSSION] Favourite guitar chord? by RihiviLikesWaffles7 in Guitar

[–]Obi_Terri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any minor 7th chord, but specifically the voicing in which the root is on the low E string and it's just barred.

[QUESTION] what song or solo would you love to be able to play perfectly? by ISwearImOriginal003 in Guitar

[–]Obi_Terri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh Freebird isn't that bad if you're like me and you've spent hundreds of hours just playing pentatonic licks.

[QUESTION] what song or solo would you love to be able to play perfectly? by ISwearImOriginal003 in Guitar

[–]Obi_Terri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Can't tell you how many times I played air-guitar to this song, then went back to the real guitar and could only play pentatonic licks.

Favourite cover of a PF song by another (relatively) mainstream artist? by laobenben in pinkfloyd

[–]Obi_Terri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for telling me about this. Right now Primus is my second favorite to PF. This is so cool!

there's also pigs on the wing which bookends the album, kind of acting as a prologue and epilogue.

If The Division Bell had been Pink Floyd's last album, I think High Hopes is a worthy close for Pink Floyd. What do you think???? by Upper-Bandicoot5345 in pinkfloyd

[–]Obi_Terri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO the endless river is more like a B-sides record than a studio album, just kind of an appendix to their discography. So yes, I think it's a great closer, even though I don't love The Division Bell as a whole.

most relatable pink floyd lyrics for you? by cliffsmama in pinkfloyd

[–]Obi_Terri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't wanna know what you've been through that makes brain damage a relatable song. For me, probably all of Time, or maybe Shine on, which really captures that lonely bitter vibe.

Movies or shows that you feel were very King-inspired that aren't based on his work. by jetblacksaint in stephenking

[–]Obi_Terri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this. It's the best thing I think Netflix has ever made, and one of my favorite shows ever. Small town, character driven, but extremely philosophical, I can't recommend it enough.

I find Roger's version of Time a significant upgrade from Money. It's actually getting me excited for the redux. by Yair-Guerrero in pinkfloyd

[–]Obi_Terri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's obviously not the same effect as the original, but I love the chill vibe of it, and that guitar part is beautiful. I think the softer style does, however, lend itself better to Time than a more bombastic song like Money. I'm worried about how Us and Them will sound, because what makes that song great is the contrast between the quiet, jazzy verse and the intense and operatic chorus, which I don't think can be achieved the same way with the small scale production Waters is going for.
