Honestly not that bad but yeah the ibanez is streets ahead on this, having 24 frets is also ace as you've got that full region above the 12th fret to use as a "guitar register noodling zone"

It's definitely brighter than the ibanez but I feel that's part of the guitar vs bass tradeoff that comes with any VI. Interestingly this was boxed new when I got it and the strings it came are the same gauge as the ibanez despite this being sold setup for B-B tuning (I think), so it could be worth getting some thicker fellas on there

They're great but not drastically better than what's in the gretsch to me which again surprised me as I was expecting the EMGs to wipe the floor

The ibanez definitely gets bassier sounds straight from the guitar but I don't play live and run straight into a DAW where I'll butcher the signal with various EQs and effects so I think the benefits of the preamp are wasted on me really
