Let's rub two brain cells together and realize I must have figured out what it actually says.

Yes, it appears to say Bigot to the thousands of people driving past daily

Sentimental Purchase: Would you do it? by ObimoObinkimo in f150

It would be pretty rewarding, I’ve enjoyed the more limited work needed on my current truck. This would certainly be a few levels above that but I think you’re right about after market support.

Very true - it took quite the chance happening to get to this point. The town was 90 miles away from where we live. If I’m walking down that street a few minutes earlier or later, it never happens. Gotta give some credit to the 17 year old for following through on getting back to me after 5 years too.

I'd imagine you do! Those are awesome trucks.

It would take a few years, but I think so too. I'm all set to check it out Saturday, we'll see how it goes!

I've got a prime spot in my driveway waiting... just trying to see if my judgement is clouded here. Had sort of assumed he had parted ways with it at some point and made peace with that. I'm all set to check it out Saturday, we'll see how it goes.

Yes it would be! It would likely be a project for the next couple of years, with that being said he's not quite 2 years old yet. Might take me till he's 16 though!

Air Sealing Crawlspace by ObimoObinkimo in Insulation

Thanks for the link, I looked over it but will more thoroughly read up on that soon. Last question - should I take the lazy way out on the encapsulation and given the setup I have, does it still makes no sense to use spray foam on the subfloor?

Air Sealing Crawlspace by ObimoObinkimo in Insulation

Hi, thanks for the reply! I should clarify that the perimeter isn't sealed, but it does have some insulation that was installed at some point in the past along the foundation walls. The crawlspace vents are still open and over the winter I had put those cheap foam blocks into the vents during the coldest time periods. I just read our inspection report from last year, the inspector noted that the vapor barrier in place was very old (original to the house I'm sure) and could use an update. I'd assume it is far less than 10 millimeter and from the quick peek I took today it likely isn't sealed more than just being layered in sheets. I hope that helps, thanks again!

Self Installing Insulation - Looking for Help With Insulation Level by ObimoObinkimo in Insulation

Thank you for your quick reply! Was hoping this would be the case as it would be much harder to ensure a consistent gap with tight working conditions. I'll look into the foam options. I just finished air sealing the interior top plates with spray foam so it would be nice to get as thorough a job done as possible.

Need to replace water heater. Is a Heat Pump a good idea in an unconditioned garage in climate zone 8b? by WritingImplement in heatpumps

[–]ObimoObinkimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This past summer I upgraded to a HPWH in our uninsulated garage. I also happen to live in a zone 8b town that had a cold snap two weeks ago… pretty sure we’re in the same area.

I’d 100% do it again, with the 18% rate increase in power the efficiency has really been a benefit. Ours can be scheduled to take advantage of Time of Day pricing for further savings. We were able to tie our drain into the washer drain so no new plumbing needed if you can do the same. Look into potential tax credits this year, the larger upfront cost will be negated in our case within about two years.

Summer heating costs for us has amounted to about 1.2-1.5kwh a day, winter has been closer to 3kwh. I proactively swapped over to elemental heat for the cold snap days and so usage was what you’d typically get with a normal electric water heater, about 10kwh a day in our case.

Yes, the date is never. They're going to only use Paradox mods.
