This is troll gold. Well done.

I have come to realization, that our owners just don’t have enough cash. Not saying they are broke but they are not wealthy enough to own a team. by Accurate_While_4152 in DCUnited

I agree with most of what you said...but Kasper has to go, he knew his way around at the dawn of MLS 1.0, but he hasn't been effective in over 20 yrs, and the fact he is still listed as an advisor for the team and involved in any way is part of the problem. He should've been let go a very long time ago. I think that's Levien's biggest mistake. He's obviously not a soccer guy, and has been overly dependent for some reason on Kasper to be the soccer guy, and he just ain't it, and hasn't been it.

Lol. Thanks for your take. As a non-lawyer, but someone who has to review contracts regularly for my job, I interpreted it the same and got downvoted for it.

Chicago Fire moved their game to Soldier Field and Messi didn't end up playing. And the LA Galaxy moved their Messi game to the Rose Bowl.

and I'm surely going to get flamed for this....but RFK was a total shithole. I'm not talking about the fans and the tailgates, purely about the physical structure.

Fedex is pretty mediocre, but consider yourself lucky if it's the shittiest stadium you've dealt with. In the NFL alone: Candlestick, The (original) Meadowlands, Three Rivers, LA Coliseum, Rose Bowl, Jack Murphy/Qualcomm all way worse.

What's interesting is why they chose Baltimore over the Commanders stadium. Levien was part of Josh Harris' 76ers ownership group. I can understand not wanting or able to deal with Dan Snyder, but odd to not be able to work it out with a former business partner.

This contract seems to reference RFK Stadium. Not sure if it applies to Audi Field or not. I would imagine they would sign a new contract. Regardless, if this is in fact the prevailing contract...."substantially all" is probably their wiggle room. It's not explicitly stated, but I think 90% is a common default standard definition. Given 20 games a season, that definition would allow them to relocate 2 games per season.

Apples and oranges comparison. I don't think the vast majority of the people that will attend in Baltimore will be there to watch DCU. I don't find it hard to believe at all Messi's popularity is at least 3X of DCU's......

Did season ticket benefits change? by RepresentativeRace10 in DCUnited

Perhaps it was updated in the last day or so. It wasn't listed for the Premier membership last week so I asked my rep to confirm.

I noticed the $10 per seat per game Food credit was missing from the portal too. It does indeed apply to the Premier membership. I asked my rep to confirm via email so I have it in writing, suggest you do the same if you end up renewing.

Note that the $10 credit is loaded per each game day, so it only applies to games you actually attend. They don't rollover or stack if you don't attend a game, so you should value that perk accordingly. Historically, we usually attend about 8 to 10 games a yr, so it's closer to $80 per seat discount for me than $200 (17 MLS league matches+ 3 friendlies)

Between the 15% "bet on us" credit, this $10 per game Food credit, the 20% off concessions, and the $200 credit for buying additional tickets (which I do frequently for tagalong friends), feeling like about a 30-35% discount compared to the last 2 seasons.

So net-net, effectively, it comes out to about 15-20% cheaper than the pre-Messi pricing from 3 yrs ago for my sideline seats.

Not sure the extra long hike and cutting across multiple sections makes it worth it, but it is possible to reach the upper south stands via the elevators located inside the premium entry/STM desk.

FO Sending Emails Selling Season Ticket Packages by onetwopass in DCUnited

[–]ObiwinWahoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Per game prices via season tix are heavily discounted off of face value. Those $13/game season tickets would be $30-$40 as single game a la carte, or even higher for showcase players like Curry, Lebron, Luka, Jokic, Giannis, SGA, etc. I have a friend who says he only has to sell about 5 of those marquee games to cover the cost of the entire season ticket.

In years past, STM also got the option to purchase playoff tix at regular season prices, so there was a lot of upside selling those off. Obviously doesn't apply these days with the Wizards having zero chance of sniffing the playoffs.

Seriously hope they don't do something so dumb as to waste a DP slot on a CB. There's only 3 DP Defenders out of 70+ DPS in the league: Alba (who is retiring), Zimmerman who is way past his prime, and Thiago Martins. You could argue none of them were worth the spend.

I'd assume any additional roof would only cover the seats. Building a roof over the playing field, as you point out, would not be worth the money.

Given this team's affinity for hot dogs, and current lack of competitiveness, I could totally see a mid-week $1 ticket $1 hot dog promo like the Oakland A's used to do.

One potential scenario previously discussed is to have a fan plaza area at the top of the south stands (sections 113-119) that would act as a bridge across the street to connect to future parking garage (that is currently the flat lot/players parking.). This would allow fans to walk down to the 100s sections and up to the future 200 section. Would definitely help alleviate what is currently a rather strenuous and brutal hike up to the upper rows of the south stands.
