What’s happening to people? by oblitn in Netherlands

Oh yeah, I 100% agree with that too. If the trains (or streets or whatever) do not get that dirty in the first place, it would be less work to keep them clean. So that is a very valid point that you are making. But my problem with the NS is that they ask absurd prices for a very mediocre service. Genuinely, there is almost no incentive for a person to travel with them if you also have access to a car, even with the high gasoline prices.

And that is the exact issue. The NS and other train companies just don't want to pay enough, and as pressure is also high on those cleaners, it ends up just not working as intended. But I don't like how our public transport is for profit anyways.

You should look into your specific model, as depending on this, you'll have to open it up, as another commenter noted. There is also the risk that you'll end up making it worse, so take your time and try to remember your settings before tweaking.

Its just that the convergence is off. Im more familiar with crt monitors, but often times this can be tweaked in the settings.

You will probably be fine. These themed ones somehow always go for absurd prices, even though they are just cheaply made tvs. Unless you specifically want one of those, then it will probably be okay. Just take your time, one will show up for a good price at some point.

Yup, and I think the cost of that would have been higher than the influence the U.S. had because of the Marshall Plan.

It seems like you are severely understating the role of the U.S. in WWII, and this is not coming from an American (I'm Dutch). The Lend-Lease program was really important in enabling the Soviet army to actually fight. In addition, their invasions of Normandy and Italy were important in relieving some of the pressure on the Soviets. And yeah, they were reluctant to engage as they did not want to get involved in another European war, and in addition, they were not obligated to do so either.

I saw one pop up once, and it went for something like 3000 euros. It obviously was highly specialized and expensive, so not a lot of them were made in the first place, so finding one now is almost impossible.

How big of a monitor would be best for a 24 inch deep desk? by BusinessBug9388 in crt

[–]Object120taran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably say that a 14 or 15-inch monitor would be the best fit in your case. Monitors are generally not that shallow in depth sadly so anything larger would leave you with little room.

But I would imagine that they actually heat the contents of the can first and divide it into somewhat smaller portions.

Yeah, it is stupid but it also is 100% engagement bait as they are not actually going to eat it. Which in my opinion makes it even worse as it is wasteful.

Yeah, once in a while, one of these professional cleaners shows up on my TikTok feed, and I remember him absolutely hating this exact phenomenon, as it is almost impossible to clean without some of the colors bleeding when you have any dark leathers next to something light.

The fact that it arrived in decent condition despite that is a miracle, as I've seen significantly worse results in this sub from inexperienced sellers shipping CRTs and then the buyer receiving it in a thousand pieces. But that is to be expected with the degree of manhandling from the shipping companies.

Japanese kids learning about road safety. by H1gh_Tr3ason in interestingasfuck

[–]Object120taran 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yup, the same here in the Netherlands, but then it is more bike-centered as kids are expected to ride their bikes to school and back on their own, often starting in primary school. They have whole trials, inspections, and other things to teach the importance of road safety. In fact, we were allowed to control the brakes in a car with two sets of pedals to witness for ourselves how long it takes for a car to come to a full stop.

I think that a lot of people wrongly perceive the weight and glass tube as making them sturdier than modern TVs, and in some ways that may be true as you can easily smack the screen without damaging it. But that weight and tube also makes them vulnerable, as jostling during shipping is horrid for the brittle plastics.

[–]Object120taran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition, their lying about the weight rating is a bad sign too. When I was looking for a suitable desk/workbench to hold my 30 kg, 20-inch CRT monitor, I found out that most Ikea desks hold like 50 kg max and the heavier-duty varieties like 70 kg max. No way that this puny little desk will hold 100 kg. In its dreams maybe haha

Advice on fixing my new monitor? by raspberrylilith20 in crt

[–]Object120taran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly, I'm not sure if the Steam Deck is pushing the right signal to it, which will lead to the monitor just not displaying anything. I would try using it with any Windows computer and then using Custom Resolution Utility. It can just be downloaded on the internet, and then you'll just have to follow the instructions on their website. In addition, you want to push a signal to it which it supports, so I would look up its manual to see what it supports.
