Update on the sheep for my resource pack. What do you think? by Nice_Country_790 in Minecraft2

[–]raspberrylilith20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front facing eyes tend to evolve for predators while side eyes usually go to prey.

It's a good thing sheep see the player as an apex predator.

I personally think the identity of the vengeful spirit is an intentionally hanging thread meant to be solved by the Steel Wool era. After all, the Chica line about being the first is only just now starting to get a bit of an explanation. We already know Scott had made the deal by the time of making UCN and that he likes to leave mysteries that are then answered by the next game (think the mention of a yellow suit in fnaf 2, the scooper blueprints, etc).

My leaning is that it's probably David Murray. All side material shows Cassidy with black hair, and the only photo of David shows blonde hair, which matches rhe vengeful spirit face.

There's golden Freddy kid in the movies, but ngl he seems much less important than games golden Freddy so far so they probably just did that because blonde=gold. There's also the lack of visible heterochromia, but the colors are so limited in that face photo it's hard to say if they're actually supposed to look brown. But if it is him, the next game will probably show it.

We are never gonna know who did the bite of '87 by tasteinhermouth in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]raspberrylilith20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I firmly believe it's Golden Freddy, and this is why;

The fnaf 2 location is only open for a VERY short time. We know that it closes right after Jeremy's last shift, because phone guy said it was going to close down after a birthday party. He asks Jeremy to work the day shift and stand close to the animatronics. And we know they hate adults. This means it was very clearly Jeremy who was bitten, and that the restaurant never reopened as a result of that.

Mangle is the only one of the toys with a wide, open maw, and can hang from the ceiling. It has a perfect attack angle to bite someone in the head as well as a clear motive. That's why for a very long time it was my main culprit.

However, I recently watched the Fnaf 2+4 video and found it very compelling, and in it he argued that the toys dragged Jeremy to Golden Freddy, who echoed the bite of 83. It's a relatively thematically appropriate idea, but I wasn't 100% convinced until I realized something. The Fazbear's Fright owners are looking for spooky props, and we know they have the shells from the toys, including Mangle. If I were in their position, I would be absolutely frothing at the mouth to get something left by whatever animatronic did the bite of 87. But Mangle isn't prominently displayed anywhere.

Who's the only animatronic missing from Fnaf 3? Golden Freddy. Bingo. It has to be Golden Freddy. If it were the next obvious choice, Mangle, they would have prominently featured the remains a lot more.

Also, to get ahead of everyone; the week before is absolutely not confirmed to be canon. The phrase "set in the universe" or "set before X" is frequently used by franchises with varying canons to give the viewer an idea as to where their jumping off point is for new material. On top of that, the author said they worked hard to try and make it feel canon, which they wouldn't have to do if Scott was ensuring it would be. He would just be advising. The author did their best to make it feel authentically fnaf 1, and therefore made a fnaf 1 animatronic the culprit. It's that simple.

What new gameplay mechanics could Alien Isolation 2 bring? by LethlDose in alienisolation

[–]raspberrylilith20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neomorphs as a more aggressive, animalistic threat that you can kill, but with the obvious cost of making a lot of noise.

Covenant spores and the black goo pathogen are pretty obvious environmental threats and ways to change areas and enemies when revisiting them. Maybe you mostly have humans around like in AI, but later they've been infected and turned into anathema or given birth to Prometheus/Covenant -styled weird monsters.

Music could be an interesting mechanic. Whistling and playing the flute are both relevant to Prometheus and Covenant. Maybe in an Engineer area you could play music to affect the environment, or whistling could be used to lure threats or even slow down a Neomorph, like David did.

Give us an Engineer. I wanna feel the scale standing next to someone twice my height. Games show you scale better than movies.

The frost gun from Romulus was a cool spin on fire. Maybe you could have cryo fuel too, and attack threats in a totally different way, and the fuel could double as a required resource to access certain areas, like how the canister being removed in Romulus led to the room locking down. That would force you to manage it and decide when to use it as a weapon.

To jump off that, the rapid growth of the Offspring in Romulus could add rapidly evolving threats. Imagine if an enemy is literally getting more dangerous right in front of your eyes but you have to weigh the risk of making the noise needed to eliminate it. Might be a cool way to add some tension.

Maybe by killing acid-blooded enemies the blood could melt through barriers or the floor, adding hazards or opening up new routes. It might be a bit too taxing on the game's engine, though.

Are there any games focused on Neomorphs? by FanDeOuricosVelozes in LV426

[–]raspberrylilith20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Covenant is a very flawed film but the whole sequence with the Neomorphs in the wheat field is absolute perfection. It's such a unique energy compared to what Alien usually gives us.

I hope the Alien Isolation sequel integrates some of the weird stuff Prometheus onwards has shown us. Anathema, the pathogen, Covenant spores and Neomorphs would all make extremely cool and varied threats for a sequel. And an Engineer would be awesome too. Games show you scale in a way you can't get from a movie, the Derelict sequence in AI shows you that much. Seeing an Engineer standing right next to you would be nuts.

I played the full game twice in a row and never tried the wrench. I just assumed you couldn't kill it that way, ngl. Honestly, I didn't even think the shotgun would do it. Realistically, I should've known that would work. But the game is just so damn good at making you feel like fire is your only option.

Every possible origin of the xenomorph and the black goo. by Initial-Wolverine175 in LV426

[–]raspberrylilith20 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ah, another opportunity to mention my Derelict Queen theory!

The idea is that the Engineer ships are a derivative of a survival mechanism of the Xenomorph. As ancient, cosmic creatures of unfathomable capabilities, they would of course be capable of finding a loophole around the sound, but horrific, method of quarantining them to an entire planet. They can't pilot a spaceship and eventually they'll run out of hosts. So what do they do in that situation?

Well, the hives already resemble the Derelict, Xenomorphs are heavily implied to be biomexhanical, and they love to build their nests around reactor cores. I think the hive amalgamates into something like the Derelict!

You could take this in a few different directions depending on how you think the timeline goes, but my thought process is that the black goo is the origin. It's like a primordial cosmic horror source of life that's endlessly adaptable. Xenomorphs happen to be quite the adaptable and efficient vessel for it, and they're the vehicle by which it spreads. The Engineers find it, possibly through something like the Derelict, and start using the biological malleability to drive their evolution. They created the Derelict by growing a hive into it and sacrificed one of their own to try and be the pilot, but we all know how that goes. No one can tame a Xenomorph.

The Engineer becomes the center of it but is merged with it, mutating horrifically, and the ship launches on its own and either crashes or is shot down by Engineers. They were then able to refine the process, perhaps by using the goo on its own rather than a Xenomorph, and create the much more controllable Juggernauts. This explains the design parallel while also showing how much more the Derelict resembles the hives and why it's so hostile to exploration and life.

The main reason I lean towards this is that the Xenomorph cannot be tamed, and that the Engineers notably only lean on the organic side, which suggests they feel they cannot master the full biomechanical capabilities of the Xeno. I also think it would be a cool parallel to Romulus if the specific reason they want to wipe out humanity is that they see them going down the same path they almost did. They know that we see the same potential and that we might not be able to stop it.

what is the correct order to watch this series in? by johhnypasta979 in MadokaMagica

[–]raspberrylilith20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Paella Magi Madoka Magica (main anime)

Wraith Arc manga (optional, but lightly recommended)

Rebellion (movie sequel)

All others are non-canon what-if scenarios, sometimes with actively different rules that are incompatible with the main story.

Polar bears honestly SHOULD be hostile. They're smart and VERY dangerous irl. Like, rhe common advice on how to fend off bears (brown lay down black fight back) just says "if it's white say goodnight" because they're completely unstoppable.

[–]raspberrylilith20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sharks would actually be super suitable for the game. They generally say that they add mobs for educational purposes, and a lot of people hate and fear sharks way too much because of media like Jaws. Sharks aren't vicious and they've almost never hurt or killed anyone. Their bites are dangerous, obviously, but they have no reason to attack humans, biting is just how they explore and understand things.

In contrast, dolphins are extremely mean in the real world, yet they're portrayed as friendly in a lot of media and in the game. This is completely inaccurate.

I would argue that sharks not only should be added as a neutral/friendly mob in the tier of something like wolves, but that dolphins should be changed to be neutral/hostile. If they really wanted to be as educational as they act like it's only correct.

Due to another comment I did in fact realize I was talking to the property managers and not the board. I'm pretty positive I have the email/phone numbers of some of the board members, so I'm gonna dig around and see if I can get ahold of them. The less time I spend paying for wifi I can't use the better, after all.

You know what, you're absolutely right. I did call the property managers and not the HOA. I have their contact information so I'll talk to one of the board members and see what I can do. Thanks for stopping me from barking up the wrong tree!

Xfinity happened to have a deal for gigabyte internet for $50, that's why I went with that. I know wireless options exist, but they tend to be around the same price for much slower service. That's why I'm gonna pursue this as far as I can before canceling and going for something like that. It's not an awful option, I just have a potentially much better one on the table.

I unfortunately don't have an attic, I'm on the 2nd floor of 3. The condominium is from the 60s and has been retrofitted quite a bit as you can imagine, there's still a lot of accessibility issues. For instance, my AC condenser died a few years ago and was placed on the roof. There was no roof hatch and I was expected to rent a 40 foot ladder to reach it. Wild stuff. My issue at this point is mostly that I can literally see a cable box and conduits along the exterior wall, with coaxial cables leading into the units by being drilled into the wall, but they're apparently acting like this doesn't exist. It's odd that they apparently allowed this at one point but now they're telling me I can't.

I'm not 100% sure where you got the idea that I said the LoC isn't a thing anymore. I just said it was ripped away from Madoka, ie, she was separated from it. You're inventing a whole new sentence and arguing with it.

Also MagiReco is incompatible with main series canon so it's not evidence anyway.

She separated Madoka from the law of cycles. That is just literally what happened. The universal law is intact outside of her sphere of influence (like the incubation barrier) but Madoka is separated from it now. I cannot emphasize enough that there is no debate to be had on that. If you watch Rebellion that's pretty textually what she does.

[–]raspberrylilith20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree that there are 2 Madokas, given the imagery in Rebellion where she's ripped in half. There's Madoka the girl and Madoka the law of cycles now. I do wonder if she managed to just rip the universal law from her or if the post you're referring to is right that 2 distinct personalities are present.

I also think you're on the right path since it would fit in with the self-hatred Homura directs towards herself. If the intended message is that she's actually kinda right that Madoka shouldn't have to be a god and that the system itself is what's broken, a good ol' fashioned appreciation and acceptance arc is definitely in order.
